I hope for a Tory majority, but I expect a stable Tory minority through 2010 - no election. Harper will consolidate his position as the most able leader of our time, and will set the stage for an unprecedented run of election wins. The wild card - in my opinion - the United States is a virtual powder keg set to go off with widely-divergent, and unreconcilable political camps. Any number of unforeseen incidents could set it off. Canada would be a casualty. I hope that wild card is never played.

Best move the Lib's made was dumping Dion, distancing themselves from the coalition and going with Ignatieff.
I don't like Ignatieff and would never vote for his party but I do respect him as an adversary. They really should've picked him in the first place.

I'm guessing the Lib's feel they have their act together now and will bring down the government by voting against the budget.

I would say a spring election is probable.

The coalition was an attempt to hijack a democratically elected government. If the opposition parties were so convinced that the government was not fit to govern, then they should have brought it down and left it up to Canadians to decide. Instead, they thought their back-room deals would fly. Of course, they knew that the electorate would punish them for such arrogance!

whoever came up with the 'genial' idea of 'cap & trade', must be a complete moron, or thinks the rest of us are. I can't believe how people can be lead so easily. Makes one understand how Hitler became so all powerful and rose to God status among the people.

Has the climate not been changing since the ice-age? There is undesputable proof (and more recovered all the time) that northern Canada (especially Alberta) was once tropical. Could it be that we are still on an over-all warming trend from those good old frozen days?

Suzuki and Gore and some very high-up liberals are literally banking on the CC market. The harder the targets, the more fear they can pass on to the loony left public, the more value their CC market investments become.... See More

I find it very interesting how every few months a Liberal Messiah seems to arise from the ashes of yet another Liberal implosion on a mission where the outcome is to be elected back into the offices of power. First it was Martin, then Stephane Dion, onto Ignatieff and arriving is the latest instalment of yet another, so called miracle worker, one ... See MorePeter Donolo. He has his work cut out for him in trying to not only save what's left of his leader's reputation but also trying to elevate his party's standing in that abyss called the public opinion poll. Pundits and journalists keep tryin' to shine his halo with tales from his past while in the employ of former PM Jean Chretien. These same hero makers seem to fail to realise at that time Chretien was not tryin' to shake off incidents like ADSCAM and the Sponsorship Scandal when in fact Mr Chretien was the father of both. At that time, long ago, he was up against oponents like Preston Manning and Stockwell Day which all but guarranteed Mr Chretien the successive majority accomplishments he enjoyed. Today Donolo is up against an entrenched Prime Minister who is a politcal genius when it comes to tactics and warfare. Not only this, but Mr Donolo is also up against a Conservative blue machine that will stop at nothing to discredit anyone who poses a threat to their success, just ask Dion or Iggy to confirm this fact!! One CoS does not a viable opponent make but in all fairness it is a good start. After a time Mr Donolo may wish he was back accessing political polls if he doesn't already instead of trying to improve this party's standing amongst them. My best advice to Mr Donolo is watchout for that big blue steam roller that the Conservative war room will inevitably unleash upon him and his leader when the time is right. The secret is to anticipate this manouevre before he and his party become a casualty of it.........

The opposition is the same group that wanted the Gov. to spend more to buy us out of recession, and then complained about the huge deficit/debt,..which would have been higher if the gov. had listened to them,...The Libs are desperate and are relying on the typical short memory of the public,...just like sending troops to Afghanistan, then crying ... See Morethat the new Gov. wasnt brining them back,..typical Lib/Socialist thinking,..trying to be everything to everybody,..all you accomplish is being wishy washy, and hypocritical...And in the end you get No respect from anyone,.. The Libs are desperate,..and it shows. They cant stick to a policy...
