WELLS (NEWS CENTER) -- Voters in this oceanside community rejected an ordinance that would have allowed large-scale water extraction in their town. The measure was defeated by a margin of better than 2 to 1 - with 1420 voting in favor and 3194 voting against the proposed ordinance.

Very excellent news, indeed. Fresh water issues make me sick. It should be straight up illegal for corporations to purchase any fresh water source... illegal to purchase even the land if a fresh water source is located on said land.

Stephen Arlaud Maine ground water is being tapped by Nestle for their own profit. What do we get out of it??? Join the cause and fight companies hat take our resources. Get statewide ordinances in place to protect pumping ground water from private land they own which doesnt just use water on their land it is from aquafiers from surrounding lands!!!

The GEO350 Climate Action Event / 350 Time Capsule Reception in Toronto's Beaver Hall Gallery was a massive success thanks to the great people from Regenesis and the many supporters who showed-up throughout the eve.

From interactive displays to eco/enviro art, the event produced an informative & entertaining night for a...ll.

Mentionables included the interactive Voting Booth for the Vote Earth / 350 & the "Green Ribbon to Show Your Vote" campaigns as well as "Waste-E" the Robot's E-waste info installation.

Great talks & discussions were facilitated by Dwayne Matthews on Open Innovation in CleanTech, Claudia Rodriguez of Regenesis & Nima Kazerooni of the GEO Project, on climate challenges, solutions & the opportunities
with the choices we now face.
