Typical Average Straight Guys in Favor of Gay Rights (by Leftake.com)
We're typical, average straight guys. We like sports, beer, and yeah, women. But you know what? We've got absolutely no problem with people who *don't* prefer the opposite sex. Live and let live. If you agree, join us.

We seek the repeal of the Tennessee Constitutional Amendment passed in 2006 by voters that defines civil marriage as only between one man and one woman therefore denying equal marriage rights to gay and lesbian Tennesseans. Civil rights should NEVER be put to a popular vote. Do the right thing. End state-sanctioned discrimination. Support equality for ALL Tennesseans and ALL Americans.

01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning. 02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

I've always had a hard time wondering how straight people who voted for things like Prop 8 and others could deny rights to gays. I think it's at the very least, hypocritical, and quite honestly none of their business what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom. If they want to marry, let them. The... world won't come crashing down, planes won't fall out of the sky, and much as what the religious right may have us believe, armageddon won't come, least of all because of this. I survived being hit by two hurricanes in the same month in the 2004 season, and the first person who reached out with an offer to help was an openly gay coworker. That shows content of character right there. And don't get me started on whether there's a gay gene or not. if anyone believes for a second there is one, I'd like to sell them the Brooklyn Bridge for a dollar.Read More

Mike Ciriello Great site!

Scott Dement

Scott Dement is very pleased to see that his home state of WA has voted for equality (67.26% to 32.74% currently). Suck on it Ken Hutcherson! Is it ironic to tell a homophobic bigot to suck it? Oh well, I think it needed to be said.

The need to distinguish that it won't actually be called marriage really just makes the other side look like fools. It is just a word after all.

I'm truly depressed over this. What kind of a country is this that makes war on self reliance and respect for commitment and family responsibility? What kind of a country refuses to allow and acknowlege further contribution from a distinct minority doing NO HARM?
What kind of a country allows defamation of said minorit...y to the extent that ads continue to say they are a threat, rather than concerned citizens, parents and regular folks who only want to be at peace with their neighbors?!

W...T....F?!

Regan - it's called a land of selfish people. Regarding your question on Ads - every year during election time I become so upset about the lies found In Ads - I wish there was a law requiring claims within them to be validated before they can be shown - but then who makes the laws?

The stars seemed aligned for supporters of gay marriage. They had Maine's governor, legislative leaders and major newspapers on their side, plus a huge edge in campaign funding. So losing a landmark referendum was a devastating blow, for activists in Maine and nationwide.

Hi all -- Last summer I wrote a short typical-average-straight-guy testimonial on this page after being referred by a friend. Well, I got to testify for real yesterday before the District of Columbia City Council in support of their pending marriage equality bill! If you ever get the opportunity to do this in your ju...risdiction, please take the time to do it. I think it is very helpful for decision-makers to hear that we TASGs are supportive, too. Jude

Jude Hi Straight Allies - please share this wonderful website with your straight friends. It is written by a straight man who was motivated by a minister who interrupted wedding vows to preach against marriage equality. He's a wonderful writer and features every day LGBT people so others can see that they are just regular folks, as diverse and interesting as straight folks. Spread the word! Thank you
