Enter the Call of Duty Tournament at Tiger Tech. Sign up in teams of four
by November 4th to be entered in the tournament. The is no fee to enter.

The Vigil

Boone County Courthouse
Volunteer cadets and midshipmen from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps,
and Air Force ROTC programs at Mizzou will form two-person details
to perform a vigil of honor in front of the Boone County war memorials.
Members of Exercise Tiger will read a list of veterans’ names during the
vigil and at the Courthouse ceremony.

2 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Wal-Mart (3001 W. Broadway)
The Mizzou Student Veterans Association will be conducting a drive
to collect household goods (appliances, furniture, clothing, toiletries,
and other furnishings) in support of the Housing Urban Development-
-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH), which provides
housing services for homeless veterans. Donations will be collected
in front of the Wal-Mart on West Broadway. We will also pick up your

Kevin Bacon stars as Lt. Col. Michael Strobl in this profoundly moving
HBO Films drama that looks at the military rituals for honoring its
war dead. Taking Chance chronicles one of the silent, virtually unseen
journeys that take place every day across the country, bearing witness to
the fallen and all those who, literally and figuratively, carry them home. A
uniquely non-political film about the war in Iraq, the film pays tribute to
all of the men and women who have given their lives in military service
as well as their families. Admission is free. Sponsored by the MSA/GPC

Departs from in front of the Missouri Student Union
Vans will be available to take you to the Vigil, Parade and Ceremony in
downtown Columbia and will return you to the Missouri Student Union
immediately following the Ceremony at the Boone County Courthouse.

The Parade
10:40 a.m.
Eighth Street
Starts at the Mizzou Columns traveling along Eighth Street to the Boone
County Courthouse. Several Boone County veterans and commemorative
organizations such as the Railsplitters, featuring WWII vehicles, and the
Boone County Fire District Pipe and Drum Band will join Mizzou cadets
and midshipmen in the parade and at the Courthouse ceremony.
The Ceremony

A short ceremony will be held honoring veterans of the Armed Forces of
the United States, past and present. The ceremony will feature Lieutenant
Colonel Ronald L. Tucker, the Mizzou Men’s Choir and will conclude with
a 21-gun salute provided by the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 280 and
the playing of taps at the 11th minute, of the 11th hour, on the 11th day of November, symbolic of the Armistice ending World War I.

Memorial Tower, Memorial Student Union
Help us honor MU students, faculty, and staff veterans by attending MU’s
traditional wreath laying ceremony under the Memorial Tower. The Tower
was erected in 1922 to honor the sons of Missouri who lost their lives in
WWI. Today, the Tower still reminds us of the service and sacrifices of
our veterans. Sponsored by Student Union Programming Board.

A reception will immediately follow the presentation.
In 2008, William J. Fallon retired as an Admiral after a distinguished
40-year career of military and strategic leadership. He led U.S. and
Allied forces in eight separate commands and played a leadership
role in military and diplomatic matters at the highest levels of the
U.S.government. As head of the U.S. Central Command, Admiral Fallon
directed all U.S. military operations in the Middle East, Central Asia and
Horn of Africa, focusing on combat efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The
event is free and open to all. Sponsored by the Mizzou Student Veterans
Association, the ORG, the Department of Student Life, the MSA/GPC
DSA Speakers and Special Events Committees, and the Vice-Chancellor
for Student Affairs.
