If your kids love working with paints, drawing books, and making art but can't get enough time for creativity into their days, the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center's Digital Art & Design program and art educators from Longwood University have a free treat for them on Saturday, October 24th! 2 workshops will b...e offered for 2nd and 3rd graders (and their parents) FREE of charge at the SVHEC.
Kids can participate in both workshops beginning at 10AM and wrap up in time to head home for lunch at noon. The workshops are free but space is limited, so please register in advance and contact Tina Morgan at 434-470-1734 to confirm your participation.
Descriptions of the workshops follow below:
2nd grade PRINTMAKING & T-SHIRT WORKSHOP: Do you enjoy nature and art? If you do, you will enjoy nature printing. This technique is popular amongst such contemporary artists as Heather Fortner and Sheri Kowolski. You will create a t-shirt design using a variety of leaf prints.
3rd grade BOOK-MAKING WORKSHOP: Books are more than something to read. Come enjoy learning different ways to fold and make artist books. After making three books, you will learn about different types of landscape illustrations and illustrate one book.
