Big oil want taxpayers to pay for the CCS that will bring process emissions down... They estimate that will cost $150 a tonne, and so given that 36Mt now , rising to 140MT by 2020, equates to $21bn every year... Is this really on the table??? Never mind as to whether CCS will even work (sti...ll no large scale working ...operation), that others say would be more than $150 tonne and that we've neglected the 9MT of carbon that Greenpeace estimates will result from wrecking the boreal forest

Hmmmm, couldn't be because spate of movies coming out featuring John?

Ending Investment in Tar Sands Here's a media hit from an report signed by a coalition of NGOs (including RAN) criticizing Italian oil company ENI's investments in the tar sands in the Congo. This is a scary new issue: if you think tar sands development looks bad in Alberta, just imagine what it'll look like in Africa...

A study from a German think tank criticizes Italian energy giant Eni's plans to squeeze oil from the tar sands of the Republic of Congo, saying it could endanger one of the world's largest tropical rain forests.

“Growth for the Sake of Growth is the Ideology of a Cancer Cell” – Edward Abbey

We should "NATIONALIZE" our resources and re-invest into a more sustainable economy with green jobs (but A very successful PR effort by private interests and scaremongering prevented Trudeau from implementing a similar National Energy Plan) Private interests control everything: the government, the media, our resources. The resources of Canada belong to the people of this country, not these private interests (that we subsidize?). Oil is Canada’s Cash Cow and there has never been any political will to do anything about it. Our leaders are acting like lawyers and managers. We need to nationalize our resources and re-invest into a more sustainable economy with green jobs.

Canada’s environmental record is abhorrent in general. (at home, and abroad). The Tar Sands, Shell Oil In Nigeria, The Export of Asbestos, Uranium Mining, Waste Management Practices, Abuse of Natives and Their Land, Canadian Operations Abroad (Recent killings linked to Canadian-owned nickel mine in Guatemala), The Terrorization of Dissent, All Shameful:... What we are doing is “cumulative” over time and effects more than any one system (since they are all connected). A finite system (our planet) cannot handle infinite growth. It is more than just about ‘Climate Change’, It is Madness:
Species Extinction (i.e. bees, frogs, ..), Desertification, Soil Erosion, Loss of Habitat, The Poisoning of Lakes, Rivers & Groundwater, Deforestation, Urban Sprawl, Mass Waste, Pollution (Air Quality, Water Quality, Contaminated Land), Wars of Water (Not Just Oil), Environmental Refugees, Eutrophication, Flooding, Ocean Acidification and Death, Loss of Land, A Decline in Human Health, Food Shortages, Development, Ect. Just some of many consequences that come to mind if we continue along this Path / Paradigm. Our priorities need to shift from short-term profits and politics to the long-term health of the planet and people (i.e. a descent life for future generations).

I see solutions, but no political will. Our politicians are puppets and pawns of larger private interests that are pulling the strings of power and preventing change. We should nationalize our resources and reinvest into a more sustainable with green jobs.

Hearing on H2oil website (a movie that will be winging its way to UK soon) that final ridiculous charges against Dr John O'Connor been dropped - basically this doctor said seeing unbelievably high rates of cancer being found in native communities downstream of tar sands. One cancer (of bile duct) which normally only se...en at rates of one case per hundred thousand seen three times (in community of 1,200)... And Alberta Health officials charge him with creating "undue alarm" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
