Theatre Communications Group Happy Thanksgiving from TCG! Trivia Tidbit: Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird of the United States, but Thomas Jefferson opposed him. It is believed that Franklin then named the male turkey as ‘tom’ to spite Jefferson. A yummy and (maybe) true sorta-fact from TCG!

I've heard all those things before. Doesn't make it true, necessarily, but I corroborate with the idea. Or something.

Theatre Communications Group Fiona Shaw performs part of TS Eliot's The Waste Land while her brain is being scanned, revealing unique parts of the mind that actors access when playing different roles. What a piece of work is woman! And what play text would best reveal what is unique about your mind?

Theatre Communications Group NY Times states the seemingly obvious: theatre geeks love GLEE, a show about theatre geeks. What's your take? Love it? Hate it? I can really only get behind the "Single Ladies" episode, but we seem to have a lot of fanatics here in the office...

Theatre Communications Group The Pentagon has provided $3.7 million for production company Theater of War to visit 50 military sites and stage readings from “Ajax” and “Philoctetes” for service members. Many of our member theatres have also done innovative and effective programming for vets. We'd love to hear what's worked and what hasn't--and wha...t theatres did to commemorate Veteran's Day. Please share in the comments!

Theatre Communications Group Are any theatres out there on Foursquare yet? It seems there are a lot of great possibilities for audience development, like offering discounted tickets to the "mayor", etc. Leave thoughts, experiences and tips in the comments--we're very curious!

In Baltimore, we're working on getting all of the member theatres onto foursquare. Then letting them know about all the options foursqaure has for potential audience development. Agree that it has some great potential, especially as niche social media starts to take off.
