Testing is not Teaching! - PBC citizens united to make a difference! TINT is not just one or two people but a group of people, a group of over 8,000 people, working together to solve the crisis that our schools now face. TINT, a Facebook page, was created to provide a place for people to share information, concerns, questions and ideas about the situation in our school district. It is a...n interactive, ever-growing clearinghouse of all these things. (cont'd)

I saw one of our elected representatives yesterday, we had a talk about our school problems. He stated the district was way too big and aj had too much power for a long time. We then went on to the school board and how we felt only mr barbierie was the only one who listened to us. The representative then stated they would all be reelected next year, I bet him the sum one dollar that except for frank, they would all be voted out. Do you think we will win the bet? Let's prove him wrong.

In order for anyone to be re-elected they need voters and money. One thing we all have accomplished for sure is to wake up the awareness of all of us and pay attention to the school board elections in 2010. We will never sit back and watch those up for re-election get voted in again. They have been proving to the voters that the will not listen ... See Moreto us, it seems they are only hearing what AJ tells them. There are already a few candidates in the race for those seats and many more getting ready to run. Tom Whatley, Marsha Andrews, Sherri Scarborough to name a few. TINT will not sit back in the next election. It is time those up for re-election to move on and for the voices of the people to be heard again. We need more people like Frank Barbieri on the school board. We look forward to helping that happen any way we can!

For those of us who are not intimately involved with every detail of the local histories, let me express my dismay and lack of comprehension of this comment and others made on the other "side."

Some of us, through odd circumstances, have students in PBC but are not local residents and have been following this entire matter closely, but from afar. This recent split (or what appears to be a recent split) is extremely unfortunate.

I have followed the parentsforteachers postings (though I find the new format a bit confusing) as well as the TINT updates. As a concerned parent of a Harid student, I came to this issue via the old parentsforteachers site after my child expressed concern about how he was being "taught" in his classes. I regard both sites, p4t and TINT, as crucial in informing as many as possible - including me! In particular, I find the p4t translations into other languages highly laudable in including as many parents as possible in this debate.... See More

I would hate to see all the hard work done by all of you in the center of the storm derailed by personal antipathy, as it appears is happening. Please - from the perspective of someone 1500 miles away - keep working together as best you can.

And believe me when I tell you... the country really is watching. I have shown videos of your excellent work to my colleagues in education in New England. Many are following the great work you have all done and are rooting for you from afar.

Please don't let personal grievances derail the enormous amount you have accomplished thus far - more than you may ever know, all of you.

Please, please, please... for the sake of education of the creative thinkers needed for our country and world in the future - please keep pushing in your own unique ways for the goal of better public instruction for all.

And may your ideas be as inclusive as possible in the process.

Thank you to each and every one of you, from someone who pays taxes elsewhere - but who values your work on behalf of his son.

Ta Hey, do you think it is conflict of interest if Cindy Adair(the chair of the Audit committee and a VERY powerful person in our students' lives) is personally donating to the election campaign fund of Paulette Burdick? While it may be legal, and her free speech, it disagrees with Ms. Adair's drive to "increase transpare...ncy and accountablity". Also, Walter Pierce is also a donor. Recognize any other names? http://pbcelections.org/CFElectionFilings.aspx?elect_id=98&office_id=140&cand_id=290

Marc Drautz

Marc Drautz I ran against Frank Barbieri and found a friend at the same time. Most of our debates ended with people saying we were the two best candidates. After speaking with him and hearing the frustration with the bad politics, it reminds me of my own political experience. Im not the Union President, but I will stand up on D...ecember 16th and speak the truth. There are a few politicians sitting next to Mr. Barbieri in seats that I should be in so he wouldn't be sitting there alone. The truth and logic go hand in hand. Unfortunately, the truth is lost in politics. Political change only occurs when people come out into the streets, or in our case, board meetings.

Testing is not Teaching! - PBC citizens united to make a difference! We need to sign up to speak again at the December 16th meeting, for some reason the board still does not understand the real problems. Maybe some board members are too busy planning their campaign for next year to listen or care. No need to bother, there are plenty of new candidates who will be in their seats.

Irwin, I have read many of your posts and enjoy your honesty, quite refreshing.I do have a question that maybe you could shed some light on for me. When TINT holds their phone conversations like the one Lisa had today with Dr. Johnson should that be reported to all of us. I was also wondering if parents and or teachers are being asked to join ... See Morecommittee meetings in areas of our expertise does that require a post as well.I have been invited to partake in a committee meeting.I know many others on this site were included, What is the right protocol? I would like to attend the meeting I was invited to.

My son's grades have dropped (11th grade) and he is also very stressed and has missed more time from school this year than the past. My son is very depressed due to this year. I would love to see a poll on how many students grades have dropped.

where is the separation and independent status of a true audit committee? It seems to me that they are just going to do what AJ wants them to do. I think there is more hidden that they don't want us the tax payers to get a hold of. I again would like to have some parents not hand picked but objective observers to oversee any and all audits done due... See More to this is OUR money they are freely spending and allowing to be misappropriated and state we will do better in the future. This is why our country is in the shape it is now. Again, We as parents and community need to resolve these issues asap and if AJ cared about the students of PBC he should drop his better than you attitude and sit down to work this out instead of making sure his butt is protected, where is the protection for OUR CHILDREN.

Testing is not Teaching! - PBC citizens united to make a difference! We are putting a call out to Dr. Johnson with a suggestion. We would like TEN to broadcast all of the December Stakeholders Meetings next week. This would allow all members of the community and TINT to hear first hand what is being said and learn about the solutions. Just a thought, can't hurt to ask.

If it's a stakeholder's meeting with a public entity, I would think that these meetings are clearly "in the sunshine" and must be recorded/broadcast and also have official notes taken that should be approved by the stakeholders like any committee would do. Don't you think so, TINT?
