Mike Ford won't
forget the first black bear he saw near his home in Red River County,
about 120 miles east of Dallas. It was the middle of a hot summer day
in 2007. Ford, a former SMU quarterback raised in Mesquite, was driving
along a dirt road when he noticed a black animal well ahead of his
truck.

I was informed today by Sallie Ann Clarke's husband, Richard, that Sallie had passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009.
I first read her book when I was 9 years old and it was the genesis for my interest in the subject of cryptozoology.
I met her in person in July of 1999, shortly after co-founding the Texas Bigfoot Res...earch Center.
She was to be the guest of honor at the recent Lake Worth Monster Bash last month, but was too ill to attend.

1. Strange howling scream.2. Foul stench. Shortly after moon set, the lake wind had died down and the night was calm. Our dog started getting nervous & ran whimpering under the car. A few minutes later the air filled with the most god-awful stench, like that of rotten meat only mustier. ...

Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy Hunter has dusk encounter along railway outside of Wilton.
Source: www.texasbigfoot.org
I saw what appeared to be a large black figure too dark to really tell a definite color. There was an odor worse than that of a skunk. It acted very aggressive as in territorial. It had a low deep growl and was around 7-8 feet in height.
