School district police departments use tasers, pepper spray — even dogs and handguns — to control crime on campus. But most don't keep data on the incidents, leaving parents no way to track them.

How many times do schools use police officers in lieu of school personnel to "restrain" kids with disabilities? They don't have to report it as restraints when that happens. How many times were the cops called on SPED kids b/c the school wasn't managing their behavior as they should be? I bet this is just the tip of the iceberg...

Texas Tribune How Farouk Shami may have funded his own competition...

www.texastribune.org
Farouk Shami donated $4,800 to Bill White's senate campaign. Now the money could be used against him in the govenor's race.

Another zillionaire with no political experience running for Governor. I guess the consultants are flocking to him like hungry wolves to a small pen of sheep. I don't think we've gotten over the last time. Are we really going to do this again?

Governor is a relatively powerless position in Texas. He can do much more good as a Senator.

As lawmakers in D.C. hammer out a health care reform bill, physician-owned specialty hospitals — a quarter of which are in Texas — face an uncertain fate. Those under development could see bulldozers, not cranes. Those already in operation may face serious limits on growth.

A/The Greek for TEXAS Gov? will the 'good ole boys' welcome him? Bobby Jindal only got in good in Lousiiana because Blanco 'botched up' Katrina's efforts in a big way. Just my thoughts. I think moving the factory from China to U.S was a smart move. We'll see if it works.
