Atlantic Coast Conference

The Atlantic Coast Conference Monday announced that ESPN/ABC has made the following change in the networks for the Virginia Tech at Virginia and Miami at South Florida football games on Nov. 28.

Duke University redshirt senior Konrad Dudziak captured his second tournament title of the season and the Blue Devils placed six different wrestlers in the top five for a successful outing at the 2009 Keystone Classic hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.

Duke's Nolan Smith has been named ACC Player of the Week while Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors garnered ACC Rookie of the Week honors.

North Carolina's Cetera DeGraffenreid and Virginia's Simone Egwu were named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Nov. 22. DeGraffenreid led the fourth-ranked Tar Heels to a pair of victories against Coastal Carolina and UNLV, while Egwu posted a career-high 19 points early in her freshman campaign for the 12th-ranked Cavaliers.

Boston College freshman outside linebacker Luke Kuechly recorded an Atlantic Coast Conference season-high 19 tackles despite the Eagles' loss to North Carolina and Virginia Tech senior outside linebacker Cody Grimm, who forced three fumbles in the Hokies' victory over NC State to run his season total to seven and set an ACC single-season record, highlight this week's list of ACC Players of the Week....

The ACC produced a trio of victories on Sunday with two of the resulting in tournament championships. A put back by Tracy Smith with 1.3 seconds gave NC State a 60-58 win over Auburn and the Glenn Wilkes Classic title. Miami routed South Carolina, 85-70, on its way to the Charleston Classic crown....

The NCAA Tournament continued on Sunday with six ACC teams moving on to the Sweet 16. Maryland downed Penn State, 2-1 and Duke topped Michigan by the same score. Boston College was a 1-0 winner over St. John's. Virginia moved on with a 5-0 win over Bucknell while Wake Forest downed UNC-Wilmington, 2-0....

It was a tough day on the hardwood for the ACC women's basketball teams as only No. 4 North Carolina and No. 13 Florida State prevailed out of six the games on Sunday. The Tar Heels won 78-68 at UNLV while Florida State went on the road to beat Georgia State, 66-53.

Florida State claimed the ACC Championships outright on Sunday. The 15th-ranked Seminoles shut out Maryland, 3-0. Miami also recorded a sweep on Sunday as the Hurricanes dominated Boston College.

Virginia Tech and Maryland had successful Saturdays on the mat. The Hokies collected four titles during the Navy Classic. Tenth-ranked Maryland won two titles to take second at the Body Bar Invitational.

The league continued to roll through non-conference opponents. No. 9 Duke thumped Radford, 104-67, while Florid State was an 89-50 winner at Mercer. Virginia posted a 76-55 win at home over Oral Roberts and NC State downed Austin Peay, 66-59.

The four home teams held serve on Saturday as all four came away with victories, including a pair on Senior Nights. Georgia Tech beat Virginia Tech, 3-1, on the Yellow Jackets' Senior Night and Wake Forest won 3-0 for its seniors against NC State. Duke won 3-0 over North Carolina and Clemson halted Virginia, 3-1.

Ryan Williams ran for 120 yards and four touchdowns and helped make sure No. 16 Virginia Tech would send its 21 seniors out of Lane Stadium with a win one last time as the Hokies beat North Carolina State 38-10 Saturday.

C.J. Spiller scored a touchdown Saturday in his final game at Death Valley and No. 18 Clemson beat Virginia 34-21 on the day the Tigers wrapped up their first trip to the Atlantic Coast Conference title game.

It was a successful afternoon on the hardwood for the three conference teams as each won by double digits. Georgia Tech was a 58-48 victor over Florida Gulf Coast, while Miami dropped UAB, 70-54. Wake Forest went on the road t beat Miami (OH), 78-62.

North Carolina goal keeper Ashlyn Harris recorded her eighth-straight shutout as the No. 3 Tar Heels beat No. 19 Maryland, 1-0, in the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The lone goal of the game came from senior Casey Nogueira in the 82nd minute of the contest. UNC now faces Wake Forest in the Elite Eight on Friday, November 27.

Freshman Lonnie Pryor ran for a pair of touchdowns, including a 3-yard run with 32 seconds left, and Florida State beat Maryland 29-26 on Saturday to become bowl eligible for the 28th straight year.

Cam Thomas and Kendric Burney each had defensive touchdowns on Saturday as North Carolina scored three times in a span of 2 minutes, 19 seconds to open a 21-point lead and hold on to beat Boston College 31-13.

Jacory Harris threw for 348 yards and two touchdowns, Darryl Sharpton capped his final home game with a 73-yard interception return for a score, and No. 21 Miami staved off a Duke challenge for the fourth straight year in a 34-16 win Saturday.

The fall season is coming to conclusion with several multi-day meets. Florida State is leading in both meets at the Georgia Tech Invitational. At the Terrapin Invitational, the host's women's team is in the lead.

Half of the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight will be made up of ACC schools as three advanced on Friday. Florida State beat Texas A&M, 2-1, on a golden goal from Jessica Price. Boston College was a 1-0 winner over Wisconsin and Wake Forest downed South Carolina, 1-0, on a goal scored during the last second of regulation....

Florida State will make its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2002 after beating Boston College, 3-0, Friday to win the ACC championship. During Clemson's 3-1 win over Virginia Tech, the Tigers' Didem Ege set the ACC career record for digs. Duke, Georgia Tech and Miami all posted sweeps while Wake Forest beat North Carolina in five sets.

Pre-season tournaments are in full swing. No. 21 Georgia Tech downed George Mason, 70-62, at the O'Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Miami was a 67-60 winner over UNC-Wilmington at the Charleston Classic and NC State prevailed 66-45 over Akron in the Glenn Wilkes Classic. Elsewhere, No. 25 Maryland cut down New Hampshire, 82-55, and Clemson was an 89-67 winner over UNC-Greensboro.
