Actually livestock is responsible for the bulk of CO2--so it's not all wrong. Pets aren't the issue--it's the massive amounts of livestock populations that need to be reduced. Also, there are so many unwanted homeless animals in shelters. Spaying and neutering and stopping breeding practices is what we should really be focusing on.

In addition to the preceding, I think all food packages should tell us consumers in bold letters when they put less food or add salt water to meat or poultry in a package, but still keep the price the same, or even raise the price--which they are doing anyway, when they put less food or add salt water (they sometimes call it "broth")in the package.
