Thanks for all the feedback... We tried DropBox but the billing options didn't work as we were collaborating and sharing large files with many different companies that didn't have a paid DropBox account. We found Box.net to be the answer.

I'll have to try out box.net, I read some reviews on it last night and it sounds like a good service. I use dropbox a lot i created multiple accounts to accomplish what box.net offers.. guess I should see what box.net has to offer, thanks for sharing!

The first thing that I noticed that was this video is at a normal volume. ;)

You are absolutly right, now is the best time to start a business. Since about March, the stock market has been on a slight upswing.

Warren Buffett just dropped $26,000,000.00 (Twenty-six billion dollars) on Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Co. Buffet said: ""Fear has disappeared. What we had was as close to a meltdown as you can have. But that has passed."... Read More

Thanks for another insightful video!

Derek Johnson Don't fall for MML scams (Pre-Paid Legal, BlastOffNetwork, etc.)

The MLM Opportunity?
Andrew Brown

There are dozen's of reason's that almost all MLM's are a scam:
1) It is mathematically impossible for most people to make money on the operation. Member income is based on signing up new members. They sell you on the idea that you will make money from all of your downstream sales. However, because of immense exponential nature of pyramids, the market soon becomes saturated. Most people lose money, hence the scam.
2) Legitimate companies spend a lot of time and effort training their sales force to protect their brand. Often you will hear "sales reps" making extraordinary claims about a product. Statements, if that were made by the company, would land them in jail. However, since there are thousands of independent reps, it is tough for regulators to chase all of them down.
3) Ask the company where they make their money? Do they make it from actually selling their products, or is it revenue from people signing up or "training" seminars. I suspect they won't actually tell you the numbers.
4) Look at the Management/Owners of these companies. Often they come from a long line of MLM companies. The formula is the same. Come out with some product, promote it and the move on to the next gig.... Read More

I could go on and on. For more info see: http://www.mlmwatch.org/

BTW, have you ever seen anyone that got rich from a MLM other than the initial creators?

MLM, Network Marketing, Direct Selling, Party Plan marketing, One to One marketing are all variations of the same thing. Multilevel only refers to the specific structure of the compensation plan, (not being single level). All in all an MLM/direct selling business is and has been a vehicle for many to create a second stream of income from home ... Read Moreoutside of their "normal" jobs. The fact that the average person doesn't get rich in MLM is actually a good thing in my eyes. If one can make an EXTRA 500-1000 each month; over the course of a yr, that would be an increase of roughly 30% or more to their income. Because the company I work with pays me ONLY on the sales of our service and not on the Recruitment of people, that distinguishes it from being a scheme. Personally, If I can pay a one time fee of less than 50 dollars and tripple that in a matter of 2 sales, I can call that a great ROI with not a whole lot of risk or money to lose.. People who claim these are scams and lose money, don't realize that just like any other business venture, it does take work and action and that it is not a get rich quick scheme. And Finally, If I want to look for a company to work with, I make sure that it is 1) an Established company(publically traded) w/ Open Financials* 2) Established track record of earnings + growth 3) at least 50 Mill in revenues/yr and 4) at least 5 years of solid earnings +growth and 5) The company history through BBB, FTC, and States Attorney General. And that's what I have done with Prepaid legal Services.

THANK YOU Derek! This is spot on. I've gotten sucked into a couple MLM "business opportunities" and lost a lot of money. I learned the hard way - hopefully others will listen to your words of caution and not have to learn the same tough lesson. The key really is that anything worth doing is going to take effort. Yes, these businesses do work ... Read Morefor some people, but it's a full time job. They're promising you can earn a full time income by putting in just a few hours a week and that's extremely misleading.

What I say when I'm prospected now is that I already own two businesses that I love and I'm not looking to start another business right now. If they persist (which they often do) that it's "such a great product" and all I would be doing is "sharing it with my friends", I point out that I love my Honda, but I'm not going to go be a Honda salesman. Just because something's great and I like it doesn't mean I have to sell it or become a spokesman for it. Here's another trick - ask how much the motivational materials cost. Many of these companies now offer "free startup", but the books, cd's, promo materials, conferences, etc. cost you big bucks. And of course these are "essential to your success". That's where they'll really get you.

There are some legit business models out there, but unfortunately the sheer number of illegal pyramid schemes are the rotten apples that spoil the barrel. I like your advice to do due diligence in research - one thing that's important when investigating one of these is to talk with actual people because individuals can post whatever they want ... Read Moreonline and not take any responsibility for their words. I'd recommend having conversations with people who've been burned by an MLM, but I'd also recommend seeking out someone who has been successful in one. Gain knowledge of both sides and make an objective decision for yourself. My two cents as a professional researcher :)
