Lars Rosenberg

Lars Rosenberg Hi

You shoudl defanatly write some ting about non true information on FaceBook (FB). There are lots of dissinformation on this site as well as good and true information. Facebook cna be a very good media when it comes to spreading politic information but at the same time it's a huge channel for dissinformation.

The reado...n of the information has to read with an open mind sorting out what is true and not. But this is a hard and some times impossible. I really believe that you can't trust any information on facebook as the trueth unless it is given by some one you really trust.

The Facebook Effect, by David Kirkpatrick "Saudi Arabians use Facebook to vent fury over Jeddah flood deaths" (Christian Science Monitor)
Excerpt: The episode has demonstrated "how technology allows people to shout out loud. I have never seen this before in Saudi," says Asaad, the lecturer... "nowadays, people are using their real names."

The Facebook Effect, by David Kirkpatrick AllFacebook.com now posts weekly videos summarizing the week's Facebook news. It may be silly, but it's a useful way to keep up with all the changes.

In this week's video: - Toys"R"Us was one of the fastest growing brands on Facebook last week - Facebook stream changes went live - Zynga announced they have over 100 million unique users this month - Facebook draws a line in the sand for third party ad networks - New developer policies go into effect on Dec 16

The Facebook Effect, by David Kirkpatrick Sarah Palin has become the most masterful politician using Facebook. The entire "death panels" controversy re the Democratic health care plan last summer began on her fb page. That's also where she responded to criticism a few days later. Palin's Facebook page is her Website. But as she's figured out, you can do more t...here than you could on a Website when it comes to communicating with fans.

Hi Friends, I wanted you to know that I launched my new political action committee, SarahPAC. Visit http://www.SarahPAC.com and stay tuned for updates.

The Facebook Effect, by David Kirkpatrick Conventional wisdom has it that Facebook is part of the reason why so many people now consider it normal to seek celebrity at almost any cost. I'm not sure it's so linked. Any opinions?

www.nytimes.com
In totalitarian regimes, some people take huge risks for the freedom to be themselves; in this democracy, some people take huge risks for the freedom to be a celebrity.

I think the Salahis are simply narcissistic. There's nothing wrong with wanting fame (wide-ranging recognition) for hard work, originality, talent, etc., but these people are NOTHINGS. Today, celebrity for the sake of celebrity is a goal. TV has much more to do with it than Facebook, I'm positive.

Also, as a reality check: Reality shows have ... See Moretaken over TV because they're cheap to produce, no writers, royalties, etc. Beware of the bread we're being fed and circuses we're supposed to be distracted by. We are in fin de siecle mode.

My experience of facebook is that it is about connection rather than fame - I agree with EK that this phenomenon is more about TV - I'd like to say reality TV, but I've never watched a program, so I'd better not go there. F.

Michele

Michele Public by the time the book arrives... or moving fast to fend off a hostile suitor already? :)

Facebook Inc. has established a dual class stock structure, a move that helps lay the groundwork for an eventual initial public offering.

Neither, Michele, I would wager. Despite the latest change Zuckerberg et al would prefer to hold off an IPO as long as possible. The new existence of these private exchanges releases some of the pressure that companies like Google have felt in the past to enable employees to sell their shares. As for a hostile suitor, that's an irrelevant concept in a private company where one person has as much control as Mark Z. does.

If you mean fend off any potential hostile suitors down the road once they ARE public, that is exactly what this latest move is intended to do.

Various messages prohibiting certain types of advertising are common. It is frustrating to many that the appeals process seems almost nonexistent. In this case it's especially bizarre if in fact you never placed any ads! There IS a way to pursue it with a person, if you click through the ad help section far enough. My guess is that under these circumstances you can find a resolution without having to hire an attorney.

The Facebook Effect, by David Kirkpatrick A thousand fans on Facebook are more valuable to a marketer than the same number on Twitter. On fb you can message subsets of a fan base--i.e. an airline can target students in Boston at spring break. (Or an author like me can send messages to fans who live in a city I might visit on a book tour.) On Twitter you know l...ittle more than that these people follow you--they appear as one undifferentiated mass.
