Peter M. Wege's "Economicology II," like its predecssor published in 1998, highlights some of his favorite environmental and philosophical authors. The writers represented in both his earlier "Economicology: The Eleventh Commandment" and in this new book touch on a spec...trum of issues that Wege has studied and written about for half a century. A central mission of both Economicology I and II is to encourage readers to look up these writers and read their works in their entirety. The bibliography lists the writers quoted in Economicology II as well as other authors who have contributed to Wege's thinking. One of the first questions Wege posed after setting up the Wege Foundation in 1968 was "Is the planet worth saving?" This book, like his philanthropy, responds to that question with power and with hope. Yes, it can be saved! And together – collaboratively, we will do it! But, as Wege makes clear in Economicology II, we must act now. This book supplies some of the answers on how to do it. We must draw on the knowledge of our greatest scientific and environmental minds in order to preserve the Earth we call home. Yes, the planet is worth saving. We owe it to all those who come after us.
