The Harcombe Diet Do you have any idea just how much flour and sugar we consume in the UK? It is quite staggering...
http://www.zoeharcombe.com/2009/12/which-2-ingredients-do-uk-people-eat-the-most-of/

www.zoeharcombe.com
Flour and sugar consumption in the UK accounts for 1150 calories per person per day (average per capita statistics)
The Harcombe Diet

The Harcombe Diet I started an innocent little search on how I might find a GDA calculator. I didn't find one, but I did find a whole load of food manufacturers dying to tell me what I should be eating each day!
http://www.zoeharcombe.com/2009/12/guideline-daily-amounts-gdas/

www.zoeharcombe.com
Why are the main sites advising you on Guideline Daily Amounts run by food manufacturers? Makers of processed carb and sugar products will be delighted to have you eating 230g of carbohydrate a day and 90g of empty sugar calories.

Well said Zoe, it just goes to show what little credibility these 'forums' have. It's no wonder folk get confused. I've been following your advice for almost 6 months and have been the same weight (after the initial 1 stone loss) during the whole of that time. I 'cheat' regularly but generally eat healthy no sugar food and love it and never feel deprived. Keep spreading the message :)

The Harcombe Diet

The Harcombe Diet p.s. Given that the BDA are quite content with UK PLC eating 400 calories of sugar per person per day, not sure what difference these little darlings are going to make!

Hi Terri - I couldn't get in to the whole harcombe diet page earlier on! Then I couldn't see older posts yesterday. Hubby has had problems with his page too. I think facebook hits melt downs every now and again. I rarely use it in the evening - too slow!
Thanks for trying - Zoe x

The Harcombe Diet

The Harcombe Diet Helena and I have been having a laugh at the expense of the British Dietetic Association weight loss leaflet this afternoon. She noticed the gem "stand up while using the phone" (I'm not sure if you're supposed to lose weight before or after you walk into something or tread on the cat) and I quite liked the "use a toil...et further away". Whatever happened to 'go when you need to go'?!

The Harcombe Diet Done a few blogs today - this one on the altenate day diet - I don't think so!

You cannot be serious! Eat virtually nothing one day and whatever you want the next - isn't that bulimia?!

Can you beleive this story?! Social workers leave Baby P in the hands of monsters and then remove a 'fussy eater' from loving parents...
The Harcombe Diet

The Harcombe Diet Hi all - if you only read one blog I ever write - let it be this one. Anytime anyone tells you to eat less, let alone do more, tell them this Ancel Keys Minnesota story.
For my obesity expert fans - yes - this is the same Ancel Keys that
then got everything wrong about fat! He did do this experiment
properly however (he ...was even surprised by the results) - this is brilliant. x

Quite possibly the most important obesity experiment ever conducted. Don't be fooled by the word 'starvation'. This is about calorie restriction...

yes i know.and i agree with you with most thing you have said.and i believe the calrorie is a lie.but its mis interpered.i just dont think you have to give up things you like to lose weight.millions all over the world have lost weight and kept it off by eating normal food like chocolate and pizza etc.there is even a program called cheat our way ... See Morethin that allows a cheat day once a week in it.and has helped thousands of people lose weight.iv read the harcoombe diet and it is very good and i would recommend it to people.just it isn for everyone.its too simlar to low carb for me.the first 2 phases that is.you can have milk yeah.but no diet drinks.you can have diet on low carb.and on harcoombe you can have unlimited vegetables not just 30g.but in all fairness there only so much of veg you can eat before you are full.so even tho you eat unlimited veg thats it allows you.theses vegetabales are already very very low in carbs so could work out at 40 or 50 gram.which is still low carb.so for me it didnt work.for the others maybe it will.im not knocking it.just my opinion

But Brian it doesnt have to be low carb (except phase 1) on phase 2 it is up to you whether you choose fat meals, carb meals or both, but to lose weight dont mix the two together at the same meal. This diet or 'way of eating' as I prefer to call it can work just aswell on mainly carb based meals but only good carbs ie. wholegrain, wholemeal wholesome... See More 'real' food-untampered with and natural. I had couscous with roasted veg for tea last night-hardly low carb! I have never felt so healthy as I do eating this way it makes so much sense and am very grateful to Zoe for bringing it all to light in such a straight forward way!

Honestly I don't know! I'll get that Jimmy's food factory guy to see what they do to it. All I do believe is that the less food manufacturers get involved with anything the better! I used to drink warm milk straight from a cow when I was a kid - we went to a farm most weekends in one of those daft caravan things! x
