Saw this last night and loved it, but wonder how long it can last. The park security folks didn't seem happy with the crowd situation near the 20th Street entrance.

If you visited the park in our first couple of weeks, you may have been told to enter using the Gansevoort access point. This early limited access was part of our strategy to handle the anticipated heavy crowds on the park initially...

Visitors at the Chelsea Grasslands Today’s blog post was guest written by one of our Greeters, Claudia Berger. One thing is for sure, rain certainly helps the garden grow. The last few weeks of rain has really allowed the Chelsea Grasslands section to flourish...

Here’s a video from UK-based Wallpaper, featuring Co-Founder Joshua David and lead designer James Corner. It was shot back in April, a couple months before the park opened, and it’s amazing how different the landscape looks. As is to be expected for Wallpaper, this video has STYLE. We love it...

It's only been raining on the High Line, nowhere else. Doesn't everyone know that? According to meteorologists at the University of Expertisia, given its altitude, the High Line catches the equinotical and solsticial public relations coming off the Sea of Ambition, and the accumulated humidity must precipitate as fog and fiction along the entire, ironclad sierra.

The Highline is the best thing to happen in NY in years -- an exhilarating aesthetic, imaginative & communal experience that, literally elevates the scale, and the meaning, of city life. Thank you for your gift to the city, and to our lives.

Like any respectable New York City park, the High Line has attracted its fair share of recurring characters (anyone have any video of Boba Fett playing video game songs on his accordion?), but none have been quite as popular as the “Renegade Cabaret” that has emerged from an apartment building...

I only wish they would let me take my dog up there :(
I "always" clean-up after her.
I "always" clean-up after her.
Karen at 2:55pm June 24
Derek - I do too. Unfortunately, those few bad apples who don't clean up after their dogs or let them run wild ruin it for all. So I'm actually really okay with a dog-free Highline.

At around 10:10 this morning, I was informed that someone was about to propose to his girlfriend on the High Line. I arrived on site about ten minutes later, just in time to watch one of the most absurdly romantic scenes I’ve seen outside of Casablanca...

I took my 3 year old son there today and we had a wonderful time! It is even more enchanting in person! And all the HighLine staff were fantasticl too!

Eric at 3:58pm June 11
Had an amazing stroll the other night. The lighting designer(s) did an amazing job. The High Line experience is so very different from daytime to night...both need to be experienced! Thanks to all that pushed this project forward. Need to make sure that Phase 2 happens!
Karen at 9:55am June 15
Well, you guys did it right. We went to all the community meetings throughout the years. I can't tell you how pleasant it was to see so many of the community's suggestions in the final Highline designs, and to be able to explain to people why things were done in a certain way, what was preserved, etc. Thank you a million times over. (P.S. I still think the roller coaster would have been a nice feature.)

and afterwards we'll take a walk on the High Line

you can only enter at Gansevoort St. You can exit at several places, but be aware that you cannot come back in via those other "access" points. There are no signs that tell people that. Once you are down the stairs, a "Greeter" hands you a card on which that information is printed.
Mark at 4:45pm June 9
Just walked it. Great job. Only complaint? Too short. Can't wait for the rest to be done and for the plantings to really grow in.

I can not wait to go.... I hope at some point this weekend. It is going to be amazing!!!!!

I remember sneaking up there with a couple of friends about 18 years ago when I lived in NYC ...glad to see it's being put to a good use. It was kind of magical back then when it was abandoned, full of weeds and strewn with trash...I can't wait to visit soon with my 8-year-old son :) How times change....

is this place about architecture?
Barbara at 6:15am June 9
Architecture is the backdrop and canvas. It's a combination: the historical (freight railroad preservation), the remaining beauty of older warehouses and homes and horticultural - - fabulous native plants! It is a place to chill out, relax, stroll, socialize, and enjoy nature.
