Heather Les, I have a question for you...is it true that moose meat has no nutritional value? Is it true that you can not survive on moose meat? I don't think that this is the case but my friend swears that this is true. Can you help solve the debate? Thx

Heather, maybe your friend was thinking of protein poisioning. Les said on Survivorman that if you have to survive on nothing but very lean meat for an extended period of time, you could get protein poisoning and die. The extra lean meat is deficient in essential fatty acids. If you are outside in the cold, the calories provided by the lean meat... Read More won't be enough to generate adequate body heat; and if you don't have enough water to drink, the body won't be able to clear the toxins created from the digestion of that meat. On a kind of funny note though, I read that moose are excellent swimmers, so when Les got chased by the bull moose during the rut, he is very lucky that it didn't jump into the water when he did and continue to pursue him! I really like that story. It's kind of scary and a little amusing all at the same time :) I'm just glad Les came out ok. He's so sweet and I wouldn't want him to be hurt.
