WONDERBREAD BODIES
"We were all kids raised in Arizona o...n Wonder Bread and watching TV. I’d always told Bill the story of when I was a kid, making softball-sized balls of Wonder Bread dough. I’d put them in the deep freezer, and then in the 120 degree Phoenix summer, I’d sit in my bedroom and eat these big Wonder Bread softballs. Icy dough. … It became a great theater piece. Fee would dress up as the Wonder Bread man and throw the Wonder Bread out almost like Jesus, giving the wafers to eat to take praise on the great TV god – the god of advertising." – Prairie Prince
"I remember me and Bill coming up with the music for that. Of course he came up with the words. We were really into Captain Beefheart… the sort of angular, jerky things that he was doing. He was our hero at that time, so we were kind of mimicking what that group was doing. … It was our little hippie 'fist in the air' about being plastic and being corporate and Ken and Barbie sort of thing. We were eating vegetables and living on food stamps, so that was our little "Power to the People” song in a way." – Roger Steen
Thank you,

Fernando Santos I checked the new t-shirt... a lot better than the old designs! Good job Prairie Prince! Now, the question is: is there a Tubes World Tour coming up to Europe (specifically to Portugal) once again?

Wordless Wednesday & Time Out Thursday with The Tubes! http://thefrugalkennedys.blogspot.com/20 09/10/wordless-wednesday-time-out-thursd ay.html

Kathy Have always LOVED Completion Backwards Principle! The Tubes rock and were so under-acknowledged, perhaps before their time. I can recall when they were banned from playing our town way back around 1977 or so, for being "too risque" with "Don't Touch Me There." (Ahem, that sort of censorship would never fly today...)

Jim Spacebaby This was my 4th or 5th time traveling from pittsburgh to akron.....and what a fun time...... the show was awesome and the "party" after is always so fun...i always feel bad about talking to the band after the show cause we are all so drunk by that time that we probably don't make sense....but it is a great yearly tradition

I got tix for my husband's bday because I could not find anything that I thought would be really good. Well, we were definitely blown away! Thanks for an incredible show at Penn's Peak on Friday. I should have brought a bus load of the 18 and 19 year olds I know. There were not enough young folks there, and the excelle...nt music and entertainment would have wowed them too. I'm quitting my day job to be a groupie. Thanks!Read More

Chip Highley AWESOME set in Akron! After what you guys went through to get here, and then hung out afterwards.....Much love and respect for the music you created all these years!

Jeff Edwards Great show at the Ram's Head in Annapolis...

Cyd We at the show. There plane is late we are wating with bated breath.

Pat Tritle was at the Penn's peak show on Oct. 23. You guys still know how to put on a great show! This was also my first concert without one of your biggest fans...my husband. He reminded me of the showman Fee truly is!

You guys were amazing last night at Rams Head. It was my 6th show in 26 years, and it rocked like 1983's Outside/Inside tour. Hard to pick a favorite, but Amnesia and I Was A Punk Before You Were A Punk were really incredible. Everyone was excellent, but Roger tore the place apart in the last hour. You were very ki...nd at meet & greet, especially to my 29 yr old friend who just discovered your music in the last few years (Rick's jacket looked older than my friend.) Thank you for so much musical joy in my life, recorded and live.Read More
