Thanks everyone for these great comments. At this point, I hope all the bugs have been fixed. It has been an ENORMOUS help to have all these responses.
If all stays on track, the site will open to the public on June 8. It will be so great for the big wide world to see a site that is filled with fascinating material, and working much better, thanks to the work of the super-fans.
A lot of comments have been suggestions about improving the site. I agree, there are a lot of cool things that could be added. I want to wait to see how people react to the Toolbox, as is, before I take it up another level. After all, maybe no one will want to use it!
About the issue of using people's material -- I hear you. Here's my thinking. I can imagine creating some kind of cool book or list that would incorporate a bunch of people's resolutions, Secrets of Adulthood, etc. I'm FASCINATED by seeing the range in people's happiness projects, and would love to do something that highlighted what people are doing.
I'd never be able to go back and ask permission to use people's posts, it would just be too arduous -- so I thought I'd better just say that all this material might be used in some way.
Of course, if you keep your material private, I can't see it, so that's one way to keep it from being used.

most importantly, let me say that I think this concept is fantastic and I'm finding it genuinely helpful in trying to keep a better balance in my life (by checking off that I'm "taking care" of things in different parts of my life).
Some technical improvement notes:
I'm not sure if anyone else wrote this but the resolutions calendar keeps taking me to July 1st instead of the week I'm actually on. This means I have to go back a few weeks for each resolution. In addition, it would be great to be able to go to the same week for all resolutions at the same time instead of modifying them 1-by-1.
I also think that you shouldn't have to put in the number of weeks for a resolution as many are just general and apply "all the time."
I recommend making it more obvious when things are public or private as well as "mine" versus "others." Easy to get lost or nervous that something you've made private is now public to the world!
Finally, I've been having a lot of problems with the login (by far the most frustrating)- where it gives me an error and says to submit my email to get my password but in fact, I am logged in- as indicated by the fact that my username is listed on the top right
Hope this feedback helps and is not totally redundant (didn't have time to read everyone else's comments first- sorry!)

I THINK these have been resolved now, but I will double check. Thanks so much for taking the time to bring those up -- we want to get everything squared away.

I tried to access the Toolbox in the Google Chrome browser, using the URL you provided in today's article (http://www.happinessprojec ttoolbox.com/) and the site did not load at all. I got the error "500 internal server error." The site loaded fine in Firefox 3 from the same computer.

Thanks Tricia! I heard that from a few other people too, arrrrgh! The web folks are working on it RIGHT THIS MINUTE.
VERY helpful to get that info about the browser.
Thanks for taking the time to post.
um...what was I saying about novelty and challenge bringing happiness?

Yikes...here at 4:38PM EDT I'm still getting the 500 internal server error. Must be a heck of a challenge for the web folks to straighten out!

While it works fine in Firefox, it gives a 500 error response when I try to use Chrome - I notice someone else has also posted about getting a 500 with Safari, so I assume it's a WebKit problem.

They're on it. Yes, Chrome is a problem. Try another browser. Hang in there!!! Sorry that this is a pain.

Hello, First of all I Love the idea of the toolbox. I am on a MAC OSX, however, and the links do not work for me. Thanks!

Every time I try to go to the site (http://www.happinessprojec ttoolbox.com/) it doesn't work and it goes to a page that says "Oops! An Error Occurred
The server returned a "500 Internal Server Error"." I'm not sure what's wrong, since other people seem to be able to see it, but this has been happening since last night. I can't wait to see the site once I can get to it :)

Love the site - it's very organized and colorful.
I just wanted to say that I'm having trouble posting website links to the Inspiration Board. I tried twice, two different websites, and got the same error message: that the image wouldn't download -- and therefore, my posts got through and were visible, but they were blank - no text regarding the link, title, or comments I had provided.
I'm using the latest Firefox and I'm on a Mac.

Hi there, i know you hate the complaints but dont let it get you down!
This is really silly but as i'm a Brit (and an avid fan btw) I get a little confused with the date of birth thing. I know you guys do something different but is it the year first or the month or the day? please help!
thanks so much

I love the site. Just a quick comment about the login process. There is no "Remember Me" option, which I think would be handy so we don't have to login several times a day. Also, If you hit the Tab key when you are in the user name box, it highlights the "Forgot your user name link". I would suggest having the next in the tab order be the password box. Just a couple of suggestions from a web developer.
Otherwise, I have really enjoyed the Toolbox.

Hi again. Just wanted to report that when I go to my resolutions or group resolutions, it's set to July 28-August 3 instead of the current week. It's not really a big deal to go back a couple pages to the present week but it'd be nice if it didn't do that. :)
Otherwise, love the site. I log in almost every day! It's extremely motivating. :)
My username is cara, I'm on a mac and I'm using firefox.

These suggestions are really helpful -- thanks!
We fixed the date problem before, June/July, but now it seems to be happening again now that this month is July. Arrrgh.
Good points about the log-in, the date, etc.
Ok, onward!

I'm sorry to start off by complaining, but I spent a great twenty minutes or so, after registering, creating my Personal Commandments on the site. When I had completed them and went to save, the site sent me back to log in again; the commandments are gone and I didn't think to copy them out and save them elsewhere before clicking save. I imagine this may happen a lot, as most people will probably need a similar amount of time to write their commandments. It's disappointing because I was very happy with them.
I still love the site and the project! And I will go back sometime before long and try to do them again. I use a Mac with OS X 10.4.11 and Firefox.
