Is this really the way to do it? I hope it works.
There should be a proper tool for a creator to remove herself.

I sent a message too. FB really needs to address this. By having my personal profile connedted to the organization's fan page I am getting some errors with applications and messages.

Well, I sent Facebook an email late last week, and still I'm waiting to hear from them. If this doesn't get fixed I will be have no other alternative but to close the fan page and lose the 750+ fans that are one there. The owner of the business will have to start from scratch, which he won't....so there's a lose.

I am in the same boat as everyone else. We want to move ownership to another user. Just waiting for an answer...

Nice. I went to the original board that Jennifer gave a link to and the answer to the question has now been deleted. Probably because Facebook doesn't want to bother with us anymore and were bombarded with all sorts of emails regarding this senseless-easy to fix issue. It's a given; Free or not free, Facebook could give a damn less about anything their clients may need. They don't even have the consideration to tell us to go screw ourselves. Facebook is quickly becoming another Myspace and Live Journal type of site. Screw the client and make a mess of the site. This is the last time I ever start another page with Facebook.

Helllllo.
We are needing to also transfer ownership.
Do Fan Pages HAVE to be linked to a personal profile? I wish they didn't have to be.
Facebook, respond.

This is a basic feature along with being able to post as yourself on a page you admin!
I need to transfer ownership of the page that I started to the real owner. I was unaware when i set it up that my profile was attached to it.
When will facebook set this up?

Ridiculous. Gives one pause about the whole social media milieu as a business tool. If Facebook wants to be taken seriously, they must address this.
Transferring ownership of a fan page should be as easy as handing a paper Rolodex to the new admin. [Forgive the analog nostalgia...]

I'm curious to know why one can transfer ownership of a group simply by demoting one's self (or leaving the group entirely) but can't do the same with a public page.
Anyway, I need this functionality as well.

My company would like this functionality as well. The employee who started our business page is no longer with the company and we would like to transfer ownership.

We need help now! By mistake I set up my offices' fan page under my mini-me gaming profile and not my actual profile. I am not allowed to transfer ownership. Frustrating!!!

I would if I EVER solve this problem. The thing is, it's not my page, I created it for my bosses when they initially does not want their own FB page. Hence, i created one behalf of them for the company. NOw i guess they thought through it and decided they want it under their own name and insisted me to remove my creator status. I'm searching ups and downs for the solution as well. Anyone knows how to solve this please please DO let me know as i want to get the hell out of this mess!

hello,
not sure if this is the same thing that you all are talking about but I would like to make my business' fan page strictly a "business fan page". Right now it is connected to my personal account because I set it up before businesses could just set up a fan page without being connected to a personal profile.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I'm in the same boat! I have a page I set up for a friend who isn't as FB literate. I'd like her to be the only admin and me just be a fan now.

What is the email address that everybody is sending their emails to regarding this? I'd love to have this feature but after reading all 172 responses, it doesn't appear that facebook is even aware of the concern.

I am extremely frustrated by this whole page admin thing, as it appears many are. Facebook could really care less as this problem doesn't affect its valuation in the open market. Not only did our Page Admin leave, but her attempt at making someone else an admin failed. I'm sure if I were Coke or ABC, they would be jumping through hoops to help us. I'm really getting a bad taste in my mouth from Facebook.

Does anyone at FB even see these Posts? This is really a huge problem and answers, or even a "screw you" as someone else said, would really be MUCH APPRECIATED!!! This seems like a simple fix, but I'm wondering if they're even doing anything about it. Help NOW PLEASE Facebook!
