Instead of talking about Party divisions, I'm interested to hearing what everyone thinks is our next best step as a Party.
How do we make the most of our HUGE victories last night and keep the GOP momentum rolling?

1. Support primaries for elections so that a case like NY-23 doesn't happen again.
2. State the Conservative principles and stick to them.
3. Every party has a range of politicians from moderates to hard core members. Make room for them based on district and let the people decide who is going to represent them.

Jim I'm so with you! The national media wants to continue the narrative of divide and conquer of the GOP. Last night was the first step in pushing back on that. Our party demonstrated it's ability to regain it's footing and to not only be about something but say what we believe in, I'm proud of the over 165,000 volunteer hours that were put in to bring about victories in both states. Now the hard work begins of expanding our reach and teaching our principles, and applying those principles to the policies and problems that confront us everyday. We are are a party ready to take on the future with new ideas and new leaders. You saw both of those in victory last evening.

Identify local potentials that are conservative...not only RNC members.
RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH these people!
Support them on the grassroots level.
Nassau & Suffolk counties in NY essentially swept the Democraps out...but...BUT...THEY HAVE TO PROVE TO US THEY'RE UP TO THE TASK!!!
No more corruption, wild spending, etc., or I really think this is sort of a last chance for the RNC.

THE Michael Steele posts here??? Wow.
Mr Steele (if IT'S really you), someone from your organization gave me a call last night. Asking for money. I gave him a message to pass on to you. By the time I finished, he had nothing to say except, "Uh, thank you."
How is the fund raising going?

By all means, please continue to depend on your two oldies:
1. Telling us what to be afraid of, boogedy - oogeddy style
2. Telling us who to blame for bringing the ooga - booga BOOO!
By the way, I'm eager to hear the DJ Death Panel remixes for the health care debate - keep up the good work, brah!

I absolutely agree with Mr Steele. Stepping up to support and even endorse candidates not even in the GOP is step one for building on this unbeatable momentum!

What up, Mr. Steele?
Hey, now that the GOP might be in danger of actually running something (and not into the ground, amirite?) are y'all thinking of coming up with some *ideas*? You know, besides cut taxes for the rich, deregulate industry and spy on people without warrants?

As a white male who is pathologically afraid of change, I can't agree enough. The RNC needs to support grass roots heroes like Keith Bradwell, and embrace its time-tested values: denying minorities any basic rights that gross us out.

Mr. Steele, I took the Acela up from DC back in March and you ended up beingi n the same car as me. I thought about going over to say hi to you or something but didn't want to bother you. My question is, if I had would you have minded? And if I see you on the train again may I come over? Thank you.

Don't listen to these "Internet trolls" Mr. Steele. The GOP proved for all to see yesterday that it could win an off year election in the South, which is surely evidence that an unstoppable wind is at our backs!!

Keep on doing what you're doing, Steele; you are the best thing that has happened to this country in a long, long time. With you at the RNC, I don't see how we can fail to become a great, well-respected nation once again.

What do you think of the idea of politicians wearing their corporate sponsor's logos on their suits? Maybe they could wear sweet track suits emboldened with flames, Blackwater, Monsanto, and Citigroup logos. Maybe their gay lovers could wear hot pants while they stay locked in their glory hole stalls. I'm just throwing ideas out there as they come to me, very fun stuff!

Do you use that calculator on your desk to figure out more corporate welfare rates? Why don't you just use the calculator on your PeeCee, it has one, you know. Plus, the GOP needs to keep trying to name everything after Ronald Reagan, that is so cool, also too.

Where did all these rude people come from???
Andrew - I agree with #1 and #3. Number 2 says, "State the Conservative principles and stick to them." Why not "Republican Principles?" What makes the Republican Principles not Conservative?
Here they are, but they're no longer on gop.com
~~~~~~~~~~~Republican Principles~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm a Republican Because...
* I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
* I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
* I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
* I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
* I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least.
* I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
* I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
* I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
* FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
I BELIEVE poor people without health care deserve to die...capitalism!
I BELIEVE a xenophobic nation is a safe nation
I BELIEVE government shouldn't intrude into the private affairs of Americans...except when I disagree with someone else's private affairs
I BELIEVE guns don't kill people, even though they're really good at it
