My favorite UC experience is a culmination of Homecoming events. As a kid my parents (both UC grads) would take me to the homecoming games. The games were always fun but rarely was the stadium 1/2 full. Now the games are incredible and the energy in Nipp is electric. Homecoming '09, I enjoyed the football game with my wife (UC alum '06) even though she isn't a football fan, she loved the festivities. Everywhere on campus something was happening; tailgating, basketball preview, alumni luncheons, parades, face painting. It was a blast and I know the best is yet to come. I wish my Dad was around to see how things have changed. Thanks UC Alumni Association for the great time and new memories!

As a 2000 AND a 2007 graduate (both College of Education), I can say that I am very proud to be a U.C. Alum. I moved to Orlando after my undergrad. Whenever I visit home (Cincinnati), my parents and I make it a point to visit the campus. My, has it ever changed! I remember all of the bitter cold mornings, trudging through the snow, ice, and wind from the Scioto Garage, up to Teacher's College. Never was I so happy to be in that old building! I had some wonderful professors while attending U.C. Among them were: Dr. Randall Cottrell and Dr. Amy Bernard. Their love for education was very evident as the strove to leave a mark on their students. And they DID!! Thanks, U.C. and go Bearcats!! Proudly, Cincinnati.

While all my experiences at UC have been memorable, my best memories are of UC Basketball and being in a really loud Shoemaker Center (5/3 Arena) while the Bearcats were ranked as high as #1.

Sitting in the stands, there were quite a few times that I'd get calls on my cellphone from friends and family letting me know that I was on ESPN during one of the close 'fan angle' shots. One time in particular I remember being so engrossed in the game that I didn't realize that I was on the big screen cheering and screaming!

November 25, 1989, first inaugural basketball game in the Shoe against Minnesota. Coach Huggins plucked Steve Sanders from the roster of the football team to be a walk-on. Sanders sanked a long 3-pointer AT THE HORN to win the game. The crowd goes wild! Bearcats pandemonium! It was THE rebirth of a great basketball tradition. You can see Sander's shot here:

So many wonderful experiences at UC! Most of my favorites are from my freshman year, while living in the dorms. We had a great time playing in the snow on the football field, sledding down the hills on cafeteria trays, laying out on the roof of the dorm, camping out for basketball tickets, football games (I was at the game where we beat a ranked wisconsin team in 1999! which was quite an accomplishment at that time, haha), baking cookies with my dormmates in the little kitchen at the end of our floor in siddall, staying up late studying or chatting, even the community bathroom wasn't that bad b/c we could chat while we got ready! :) I was even lucky enough to meet my future husband while we were both freshmen, living in the dorms!

Later, I had the opportunity to travel to many awesome places (Hawaii, New Orleans, Florida, Philly) as an athletic training student while working with the athletic teams. I made life-long friends with my fellow classmates. There weren't many of us and we were usually with each other 24/7 between classes, studying and the training room. I'm fortunate to have made such great friends and also to have worked with some wonderful teachers/staff during my time at UC.

I had a fantastic time at UC and I'm glad I made the decision to go there for both undergrad and grad school!

In the early Seventies as I was Associate Dean of Students and finishing my Ed. D. I took part in a turkey race. I think it was part of the festivities designed to get fans excited about the football team. We were NOT number five in the US back then.

Any faculty or staff who wanted to enter signed up and somehow the sponsors rounded up enough turkeys to give each one of us a turkey to urge on to victory. (All turkeys were donated to a charity afterward.)

If only Mark Twain had been with us to record the sounds and gestures of a group of dignified faculty trying to scare, plead and beg our turkey to cross the goal line first. I think there was a photo of me as the winner in the News Record but so far my copy has eluded me.

Yes, I won and the prize was so large and wonderful that I cannot even remember what it was. Maybe a trip to deliver the turkeys to the charity. The best I remember, my tom won by a beak and a waddle.

My favorite UC experiences are many: going to the cafeteria and getting my first taste of "Grippo's" BBQ potato chips; walking down the hill on a Friday night to Skyline Chilli and having to stand in line in front of the steamed windows; playing Miami in the "biggest" rivalry game of the season; meeting all the people that are still some of my best friends even after all these years!

Like many of the posts I've read so far, I, too, enjoyed my time as a student at UC. I earned 2 undergrad degrees, and my Master's from the university and am very proud to be an alumnus. Colege was great! However, my favorite UC experience came after I graduated. In 1997 I went on my first UC Alumni sponsored bus trip to the Miami game. After what I remember as a Bearcet win, I met my future husband on the bus ride home. Twelve years(10 of them married), and 2 beautiful children, later, I can definitely say that bus trip in '97 was definitely the best day I ever had as a Bearcat!
