What do you think of the proposed Federal Stimulus Plan's potential impact on Education?

I think the moneys will allow the schools to continue at close to their present level of educating students. The piece about funding the student loan providers at the expense of the students is bothersome in the same way as funding the banks but not the mortgage holders as jobs disappear. Eventually, we do come out of a recession-depression and we will need the educated students to help the recovery. It would be criminal to short change the human resources in favor of immediate profits.
I also am interested in the view of the American Heritage Institute - they seem very much in favor of this being a global economy and workers competing internationally. So doesn't it make some sense that at least part of the direction for schools should come from the source with the most international experience - the federal government? An interesting dichotomy.
Now if they can change the NCLB to make room for a variety of pupils - perhaps the ones to get us out of this will really get an education.
