Charlie & The Chocolate Factory - not the remake, but the original with Gene Wilder as Willie Wonka. :) Great songs, bursting with colour, full of silliness, and it's all about sweeties... what can be more feel-good than that?

Raiders Of The Lost Ark - the original 'Iiindy!!!' film, full of comic-book action, with heroes to cheer and baddies to hiss at. :)

labyrinth is pretty legendary, cant beat a bit of bowie camping it up and gremlins dancing around, and ludo; what a badass!

Ever since sky television used the charlie and the chocolate theme tune for some commercial I've wanted to watch it. haha.

amelie has been mentioned twice in relation to this group, so i think it deserves a mention because it is really lovely! i haven't watched it in an age though. also, any fantastic 80's films that sam gets me to watch. they are full of fun!

Uhmmmm.... rain man. Its a brilliant film and dustin hoffman's portrayal of his character is so innocent and genuine i cant help but smile at its sweetness

I went to see Juno for the second time this week with a fellow cheerthefuckupist (couldn't wait for the DVD) and we were both grinning all the way through! The Sound of Music gives me a big grin too!

has to be 'back to the future', best film of all time. its just so 80s :P and a good film all around: brilliant cinematography, great storyline and (most importantly) a film that just makes you laugh no matter how much you watch it :)

I watched the Spongebob Movie the other day. That brought a smile to me face. I love Robin Williams in Aladdin too so definitely that one. Disney films in general really!

It's easily Amelie. The French film about a young woman who decides to go out of her way improving other people's wellbeing, but somewhat neglecting her own, only to find that by helping one man she makes herself happy.

It's such a brilliantly lovely film and it always cheers me up. =]

Odd, considering the premise is pretty distopian, but it's fast, exciting, has great music, & makes you feel that "one man can make a difference" and all that kind of gubbins... :-)

when i am feeling anxious or having a particularly bad day i watch "the royal tenenbaums" as it makes me feel really calm for some reason.

Not very highbrow, but I always find myself watching something absolutely mindless, I can't watch something like Shoot Em Up and keep a straight face, no matter how I feel when I press play.
