Has anyone seen the open season on freshman thing they are doing on collegeotr.com? On the Tufts part they are picking out some of our facebooks and making fun of them.
Kinda vicious...

I think they're hilarious, save for the tattoo one. I don't see what's wrong with tattoos. XD

Regardless of the humor factor, I don't like public unkindness, which the site certainly has a lot of. Go after celebrities, not a stupid Facebook profile. Tell a friend if someone posts laughable info, not 10,000 people you don't even know. -_-

im sorry but i find the site hilarious
and you have to be able to take some criticism and laugh at yourself. i realize how pathetic and weird i am, why should anyone else be spared that realization?

Sure it's funny. It's just that some people aren't really able to laugh at themselves and shouldn't really be forced to. Thankfully, most of the people the Internet goes after do deserve it in one way or another, but some simply do not. One man's humor is another man's humiliation. It is true that people should think before they speak/type/etc. and should keep more of their opinions to themselves.
Edit: Yeah, I am fucking insane. I'll gladly admit it and laugh at some of my antics, it's just the way I am. I don't really know if my profile displays that insanity, though. =P

A lot of the other stuff on there is pretty true, though, especially the stuff about ResLife being in a complete state of fiasco since the lottery was screwed up and ton of juniors - who aren't guaranteed housing - got sophomore's rooms and sophomores got our rooms and none of them wanted to live at the Hyatt, resulting in (drumroll please) forced triples for us, which were supposed to be abolished years ago! (Sorry for that being all one sentence.)
That said, yeah, making fun of students personally is immature and pointless and stupid.

haha the only ones that are laughable on that website ar the people that actually make the website, if anyone is a creepy stalker or has to much time on their hands its them, imagine how much time they have spent on facebook etc to come up with all that stuff, they should probably get out more and perhaps get a girlfriend or something

i just think it's horrific we're about to go to a place where (apparently) we're being judged for things we put on facebook photos...
or maybe it's just all part of being a freshman?

or maybe its a part of life. if you don't want people to see stuff you put on facebook, make the profile private so only friends can see it.
think about it... now-a-days colleges, employers and program coordinators frequently check out applicants on facebook so they can determine the quality of person you are... i should know, i work for someone who admits that she checks all of the facebook profiles she can access.
so maybe everyone should either
a) remove all pictures of you smoking pot, drinking, or giving the camera the finger
-or-
b) make your profile private so only your friends can see it.

yeah that's true, but i would expect that kind of thing from an employer... or really, anyone who has the right to check up on me and judge me. employers, teachers, those types i guess have the right to do that. but schoolmates? that might be pushing the limit. while what you're saying is valid, and yes, we should use it as a lens through which to examine our own carelessness, that still doesn't justify the mean-spirited tone of this whole thing.
all i'm saying is that i didn't give these people the right to put me under a microscope. not that i was targeted, just from a general point of view. anyone CAN judge anyone, theoretically, but you would expect a greater amount of respect from people you are about to call your peers in just a few days.

thats the sad part. the internet is filled with people that are ready willing and able to destroy your reputation at any chance they get.
but i guess it's a good warning to everyone out there.

I agree....
Yes the things said on this blog are somewhat humerous (they might be less so if you are the victim), but the fact that the blog is done by an anonymous group of people, while saying things like "if I ever see you on the tish stiars, im going to punch you in the face" is sort of meanspirited (understatement)
Its one thing for employers to look at facebooks to gain a perspective into someone's personality... its another thing for anonymous people to roam facebook and publish critiques of people's profile's, making fun of everything from their name, to the amount of friends they have from the tufts network.
Especially so, when the group they are targeting is an incomming class of freshman.... Some of us might be more sensitive than others, and who knows if these post could make an intimidating experience even worse. No freshman should have to come on campus with the knowledge that their facebook has been published and made fun off all over campus... at random.

Luckily what they're doing is mostly harmless. What good is being an upperclassmen without being able to make fun of toolish prefrosh? I happen to think it's funny, but that's just me haha

Good call, I just read some of the posts and they are pretty terrible. They're really not funny-- just mean. I was not impressed, for upper classmen, they seem pretty immature: making fun of kids' names seems kind of 'high school', rather 'elementary school bully' to me.

Oh yeah, for the college process I totally made my Facebook profile private just in case. I didn't even really have anything incriminating at the time but I was so paranoid because I knew people would do that. Hell, if I were an employer I'd do the same thing.
