Is it possible that the frogs can get startled and afraid, I've been noticing that they will go balistic in the tank and swim like crazy hitting the sides of the tank, back and fourth, and then hitting the gravel on the bottom, and then they calm down. Is this a behavior of these frogs. I would like to know if there is anything I can do to prevent them from getting startled.

I actually came on here to ask a similar question. About once a week, I will start hearing one or both of the frogs hitting the sides of the tank as if they are going crazy. I'm wondering why as well.

I went to the website, I've been there before, but I didn't see anything about the above mentioned problem.

Karen and Kasey, this is normal. These guys have energy spurts like every other animal! They are most likely just playing and there is nothing to worry about. You will also see this behavior around feeding and shedding time which again is very normal! Nothing to worry about! Hope this helps!

That explains it then cause in another post I just wrote about, I did see one frog pulling the skin off of another frog, so that's probably what is happening. Thank you for you response, I truly love these frogs. one more thing I just ordered more gravel from your website with the living gravel do I wash this gravel in tap water or spring water before putting into the frogs tank.

Karen, a good rule of thumb is to never exponse anything that goes into the tank to tap water, it will kill all the "good" stuff in the living gravel. When the new gravel comes in, rinse the color portion in spring water, do not rinse the living brown portion at all. When cleaning or rinsing anything from or in the tank always use spring water!! Great question!
