According to MinivanNews, only around 20 people turned out for the much advertised vigil, to mark Evan Naseem's brutal murder at the hands of Gayoom;s paramilitary forces in September 2003.
This exposes the other side of Male' Community -- 80% of whom are downright hypocrites, too afraid to be themselves in any real sense.
Residents of Male' were well aware of the goings-on inside Gayoom's torture chambers, long before Evan got attacked.
These very residents of the capital city are the very ones who are sustaining this dictatorship.
Why?
Residents of Male' most benefit from the corrupted culture that Gayoom has established.
So, the job of ridding this country of this vile dictatorship becomes more difficult.
Think about this...

yea vakivegathumakaee ekahala kameh...but the truth is egos and personalitites seem to come into play...there is no leader of set ebleif amongs the opposition either in political back ground or even just purely humanitarian...some poeple tried to do differnt thigns against the dictatorship but all of iot goes no where because our general public have a "we dont care as long as it dont directly affect us" policy of thinking that needs to change before anythigns else...peopel need to support refromists as long as they a re non violent unless in self ddefence and they are solely for the people rather than for themselves...

thats an uneducated comment. male people do come out.
remember the mass rally ,when all people from islands were supposed to come .but they never came,male people went out there and got their ass kicked. .so stop pointing fingers . start convincing people to come out.dont be a hypocrit ur self.

i apologize for the ignorant comments iv made. yeah actually they did come. and i rmber the manavaru shooting water cannon at one dhoni. sorry people iv made a mistake. but male ppl do come out too.like inthe fisrt protest.
whatever non of male and island people matter.we all need to be one and be much much more united if we are to bring down that beast.
