It looks like we have decided to have our next All-Class reunion in Lake Tahoe. I think we’ve made a great choice it’s beautiful, lots to do and casinos too. In addition to the official emails this discussion board will be where you can find information and updates about the progress of the reunion planning.
I live in Sacramento about 2 hours from Lake Tahoe so it looks like I will be taking the lead planning this party. I would love to have some help with the planning. If you live in the area and would be able to visit Tahoe with me a few times to make the plans please let me know. I think there are a few alumni that live in northern California so we should be able to put together a good party planning team. In addition to the local committee I think I will need help with some other miscellaneous stuff that you don’t have to be here to do. But, I don’t know what that stuff is yet, maybe agendas tee shirts, don’t know yet. If you are available to help with long distance stuff please let me know.
I’ll try and have the reunion one weekend in August 2010, with the standard format of Friday evening happy hour and then Saturday evening dinner and dancing. Maybe some organized tours/activities on Saturday. If the casinos are reasonably priced I’ll try and set it up in one of them. For now there is still snow on the ground in the Tahoe area. When that’s gone I’ll make my first planning trip to the area. That should be in the next few weeks.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I am open to all ideas. If you don’t want to post your suggestion here you are welcome to email it to me. If you can volunteer to help out either locally or long distance please let me know.

This will be the only on-line location that I post these updates about the reunion planning. You are welcome to copy these plans to other websites but please remove the email addresses so we don’t get slammed with spam.

I've had a nice response and so far we have 93 people who have said either maybe or yes they are attending the Tahoe reunion. So for now I'm going to figure on 100 people attending.
Next Friday I'll be going to Tahoe to find a place to have the reunion. I'm open for any suggestions if you've been there and have a place you like.

Hi Chris,
Would love to attend! I attended LAHS 77-79, would love to see some old friends. Sadly I graduated from Kaiserslautern American Kigh School in 82', it wasn't same as our group, but, that what happens when you are a military brat:}
Please count me in,

MARK YOUR CALENDARS.….a date has been set, August 7, 2010. We found a great place right on the beach for our reunion. Below is a link to the hotels website. For now do not make any reservations just mark you calendars. I am still haggling the room rates etc.
The hotel will offer discounted rooms for us for the week before the reunion and the week after. So, if you are interested you will be able to extend your stay at the discounted rate. Eventually, I will give you a phone number and website to use for reservations.
I’m still working out the details of the reunion. The preliminary plans are a happy hour on the beach Friday evening and Saturday evening a sunset dinner on a deck overlooking the beach and lake.
This is a great place and we should get the full Lake Tahoe experience. It’s about a mile from the casinos and has a free shuttle service at our disposal.
If you are flying, I recommend you fly into Reno Nevada and take the casino shuttle from the airport to South Lake Tahoe. I’ll provide more details later. With the shuttle service there is no real need for a rental car.
The place we are staying has a bunch of condos of various sizes with multiple rooms. If you are interested they are big enough to share with other classmates. You might want to start looking for a roommate.
Please pass this information on to your friends. There will be an email coming soon for those not on Facebook.
Comments and suggestions are welcome. You can email me direct or use Facebook.
Here’s the link to the hotel.

Hey, Chris --
I live halfway across the country but willing to help out as much as I can from wayyyy over here! I represent Class of 1990 (they don't mind me saying that) so I know some of us plan to be there as well.

thanks for all of the planning! This sounds totally awesome and I have every intention of being there! My calender is marked. I will be willing to help in any way that I can, but after May 8th. That's graduation day. I hope to have taken and passed my boards so I can really enjoy a week or so in Lake Tahoe. Again thanks for all the hard work and the posts!

SOME CHANGES TO THE PLANS
When we went back to the hotel for a second look and to make further party plans we found that the hotel was not up to our standards. I won’t go into the details, let’s just say we saw their “best” the first time and “not their best” the second time.
WE FOUND A GREAT PLACE today and reserved it for the same weekend. I will be signing the contracts on Monday and the discounted rooms should be available for reservations by the end of the week. We will get about a 20% discount on the rooms and the discount will apply to your whole stay and not just the weekend. Some of you said you wanted to spend a week while here for the reunion and I kept that in mind when discussing the discounts.
I will let you know when the rooms are available to reserve. Watch this page and your email.
Again, MARK YOUR CALENDARS. There will be a cocktail party Friday evening the 6th and a dinner/dance Saturday evening the 7th. The facility has two large rooms for us to use, one to eat and talk and the other right next to it for dancing. Put the food and bar in between them and we have a party. They have a great view of the lake, perfect for watching the sunset as we dine.
They have a heated pool, a Jacuzzi and a sauna. There is a nice restaurant and even a bowling alley and bar on the property. Directly across the street is Lake Tahoe with a great beach to hang out. They even have free bicycles for us to use and an onsite gym.
They have a bunch of different types of rooms and prices to choose from. Some of them are as large as 1,500 square feet and can sleep a bunch of people. You might consider sharing one with a friend/classmate. The views are fantastic.
The party rooms have a screen and projector for presentations. I think it would be nice to have a slideshow during dinner with pictures of our time in school. Please gather up some pictures and email them to me. I’ll include them in the slideshow. This will be a simple slideshow of photos and not a Powerpoint presentation.
Next we will need to find the caterer, DJ and other party plans. When they are set I will let you know the cost per person for the reunion and ask for you to send me the money.
THIS IS AN ALL SCHOOL REUNION. We will plan for all ages and music preferences and not focus on just one decade. We want everyone to come to the party. That’s why we have two rooms for the party so you can dance or talk quietly or both.
Please everyone who attended our school please plan to come to the reunion.

RESERVE YOUR ROOM
Because you are using Facebook you will get this information first. There will be an email sent to everyone very soon.
I was able to get them to knock off another 5% from the room rates. Now we get 25% off. This discount will apply to your whole stay and not just the reunion weekend. See below for the room types and rates.
I cannot express this strong enough. Reserve your room right away. Lake Tahoe is a very popular vacation destination and the hotels there book up quickly. If you are just thinking of attending this reunion please reserve a room. You can always cancel if you change your mind., the hotel has a 3-day cancellation policy. Please do not wait until the last minute.
This hotel has many different sizes of rooms and a wide range of prices. Here is a list of the rooms and prices per night. Some of these are adjoining rooms with a door connecting them. The lake views are very nice.
Single Queen, $126
Double Queen, $141
Double Queen Lake View, $156
Double Queen Great Room, $165
King Great Room, $181
One Bedroom Suite, $214
Deluxe 1 Bedroom Suite, $310
Deluxe 2 Bedroom Suite, $390
To reserve a room and get the discounted rates call the hotel and tell them you are with LAHS or Livorno American High School. These rates are not available on-line. You will have to pay for the first night of your reservation at the time of booking and the balance when you arrive.

Reserve your room now. When I get the rest of the details of the party worked out I’ll let you know the final cost for the reunion. As a reminder, I am planning a Friday evening happy hour and a Saturday evening dinner and dance. The dates of the reunion are:
August 6, 2010 (Friday)
August 7, 2010 (Saturday)
If you plan to fly, the Reno Nevada airport is the nearest airport. There is a shuttle bus that you can catch from the airport to the casinos and then a short taxi ride from the casino to our hotel. Rental cars are available however, there are lots of shuttle busses and taxis in the South Lake Tahoe area and you probably will not need a car. When I go to Tahoe for the weekend I leave my car at the hotel and use the shuttle busses. The shuttle bus service from the airport to the Tahoe casinos is:
South Tahoe Express
1-866-898-2463
www.sothtahoeexpress.com
The regular price for the South Tahoe Express is $46.50 per person, round trip. I will call them and try and get a discount for our reunion. I’ll let you know how that goes.
Finally, this reunion is in South Lake Tahoe in the prime time of the summer. There will be lots of activities for us to choose from including boating, swimming, water skiing, parasailing, jet skis, zip lines and gondola rides to the top of the mountains/ski slopes. Also, casinos with all of the gambling, shows and activities associated with them. I’ll provide more information on these activities later.
Our hotel has a nice heated pool, a spa, sauna and right across the street from the hotel is a popular beach (so I’m told). Bring your bikinis and Speedos. :-)

I don't have an official list yet. I have a list of interest that is incomplete because people sent their response but, did not usually include their full name or years. There are a few from the 60's that have responded (actually all decades).
I will be assembling a list and posting it eventually.

Gabriella,
I just sent you an email...you can send me (or Harry Heflin) your info & it will get onto the list. I noticed your name is still in the directory, but no email address---it must have gotten outdated.
