Hi Team17 its awesome to see a worms game for the PS3, I still have Worms, Worms World Party, Worms Armaggedon and even Worms Pinball. So this news excites me just wondering weather there will be trophies, any dates for realese and rough price?

Trophies are in (all new PS3 titles have to have them, but they're great things to have - and we've got a few silly ones).
Can't confirm the date yet (it's soon - and will do when we know). Can't confirm price either as yet, but it'll be good value.

Myron, we can't say for certain until we get all the relevant green lights, so "soon" is all we can do for now. We're working on trying to bring it to everyone as soon as we can.

So why is it that us PS3 people get an "enhanced" port of the XBLA worms and the X360 people get a whole lot more? Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely thrilled that the PSN is getting a Worms game (especially one that includes the Holy Hand Grenade) but I'm just wondering why not release Worms 2: Armageddon for both?

It just comes down to timings and relationships Jake. Microsoft took the biggest incentive some time back to bring the title to their system.
We took a while to get around to producing it for PS3 (and as a matter of course expanded it whilst building it). The Worms 2: Armageddon title is exclusive for 360 for a period as part of that relationship.
Ideally we'd have had the PS3 game out by now, but we took the opportunity to make the game a lot more complete than the initial XBLA title, due to a few reasons; (a) no size limitation (b) user feedback, so there's a lot more content than the original XBLA release in terms of levels, audio voices, more weapons (including a few favourites) and expanded landscape styles which really make the game even more replayable. It looks awesome in 1080p too if your TV supports that.

Great news, i am a big fan of worms all the way back to the Amiga original!
Any thoughts to HOME un-lockables? (since they seem to be so "now") I am pretty sure i know a few people that would kill for a Super Sheep Costume, or a Holy Hand Grenade T-Shirt.
Rather overjoyed at the news on Alien Breed too, to this day if i ever try to open a locked door i hear in my head "PLAYER ONE REQUIRES KEYS!" far far too much time spent playing that game..lol
Also, i certainly feel SuperFrog is due for a comeback via XBLA and PSN, seems a perfect fit for those platforms any thoughts?

"The Worms 2: Armageddon title is exclusive for 360 for a period as part of that relationship." So Worms 2 will also come to PSN?

Abed, not planned at the moment, Worms on PSN is coming and we may have a different plan to expand that in the future :)

Thanks for the answer, it makes sense now. If you put Worms 2: Armageddon on Steam I'll just get it on that as well as the PSN version. I love me some Worms!

Of course, you guys are after all Team17. There must be some sillyness in your games ;)

is there going to be a map editor?

Team17 Software Ltd. wroteon March 5, 2009 at 1:54pm
Not initially, we found most people really just like the random levels (there's a much broader range than was in XBLA). Also, with user content, it has to be moderated, which is a real hassle for everyone involved (like you wouldn't believe). Could happen in the future though, we'll see how we go on. It's always been fun in the past but that was before everyone was concerned about what you could do with the freedom of creating your own content. There's some worrying people about :)

Hi everyone, i'm a french player and I just LOVE his game, I spent so much time on WWP you couldn't believe it, i was just wondering, as a fan, there will be no way to play with such rules created by some hardcore gamers, (shoppers, roppers, race etc...) in wich playing with custom maps (undestroyable) using the rope as true ninja worms would do was the only way to survive?
i hope i'm clear enough, and last question; what's the major differencies between this ps3 version and the new xbox360 one? merci!

Hey... well, for those hardcore guys, you can still play on PC right, with the old game, that's not going anywhere. That stuff really is hard-core and would be way too much for a wider audience. However you can rope set up indestructable terrain, your own weapons and rules, so do your worst.
PS3 is a much enhanced edition of the original XBLA title. The new XBLA game is a sequel to the original (exclusive XBLA for a while) which mixed Armageddon and best of Open Warfare 2 weapons (some cool stuff). It's also got a new physics engine, although the PSN one has too.

thanks for your answer! so I will be able to mimic what I had on the computer version though it's not as deep in terms of settings right? (schemes, ammos etc)
would you say that the ps3 version is inferior to the 360 one? (we all want the best of worms, but considering to the restrictions the first 360 one undergone, I thought the next one would follow the same path and have the same issue, but it seems not according to the other discussion about worms armaggedon 2, i'm a bit lost in fact.... >_<)

The PS3 one is an expanded version of the original XBLA title, with more weapons, features, levels, options and themes.

are there going to be any brand new weapons, or all of the extra ones are going to be weapons that have been on past titles?

Team17 Software Ltd. wroteon March 6, 2009 at 7:01am
The extra weapons are pretty much classics. Introducing new weapons can absolutely imbalance the game so it's something done very carefully.

You spoke about wider choice among pre determined maps, but will there be ones allowing to recreate the fight conditions we used to love as hardcore gamers; I mean, we have no map editor if I understood well, that's ok to me if there are some ways to play as I/we used to, so would you say that some of those maps are compatible with our beloved hardcore schemes such as fly, shoppers etc? (for instance, for a fly we needed a map made in such a way that a worm could be trown from a border to another of the screen in one time using the rope... or even simply maps advantaging the use of the rope...)
I know that thoses schemes are played by a minority among a huge population of players, but still we are part of it and just worried to be condemned to extinction at each release of a new worms game, we need wood to feed the fire of our passion! =D
