Hi,

I am in the UK and saw the update to 3.0.1 this morning. I hoped it would fix a long running iphone app problem. For whatever reason the Facebook app does not seem to present the correct time of updates and inbox messages. They are all out by a considerable margin.

Obviously the web interface on my laptop does not have this problem so can the iphone app please be fixed to reference the time zone setting I have set for my iphone.

It is incredibly irritating as I do not know when people have sent me updates or messages.

Thanks

Exploring further oddly some updates and messages are correct and some are out???? The inbox is particularly out where as the wall seems correct, most of the time????

Glad I am not the only one that has been having this problem over the versions.

My only question is how do I raise a support ticket for this????

Can you share with me what time zone you are in, and specifically what parts of the app have incorrect time zones? When you say messages have the wrong timestamp, do you mean in the Inbox page, the individual messages, or both? How about events, notes, and news feed?

I'd like to be 100% sure I fix this in 3.02 so the more information you can give me, the better. Unfortunately, just changing the time zone on my iPhone seems not to be sufficient to help me test here on the west coast of the US.

I been having a similar problem. My mail box messages are recorded as that there three hours ahead. For ex.. Its 8:00AM and it said it was made on 11:00AM. All other times seem to be correct except for the mail box. states looks normal.

I'm in the UK, so GMT/BST (+0000 / +0100). Not noticed or checked on mail, but I have noticed that the times are wrong for events - which skews the dates into the future amongst other things!

Hi Joe, I have the same problem on my laptop with inbox messages. The time stamp on messages I send shows 1 hour earlier than what it is BUT when I go back later it seems to have corrected itself. Seems to happen all the time.

I'm in Dublin so I'm on GMT. On the messages screen I see that I have received a message @ 11:50am (which is correct). When I tap the message to open it the time now says 7:50pm? My reply 14 mins later was tagged as sent at 8:04pm when in reality it was sent at 12:04pm.

Rather confusing I must admit.

I'm in the uk and just sent a message on Facebook iPhone at 1110pm and it says I sent it at 710am???

It appears on further investigation the time stamp for the menu screen showing you the first few lines of the messages you have recieved is correct but when you click on each individual message and open that message up it stamps the message at 8 hrs ahead or even the reverse which would be 15 hours behind. But I do want to point out that other than this bug I ABSOLUTLY LOVE the new Facebook app on the iPhone! Well done to the designers and this is a HUGE improvement over the last version.THANKYOU and hello to all the other iPhone users out there! We own a great phone and Facebook is a joy to use thru it! Just need to get Facebook videos to work thru the iPhone now!!! I know....your working on it ! Thanks again! Luv it!

Hi Joe,

Just had a chance to check back in on this thread I started and everyone who has chipped in has described the problem perfectly.

Events and the Inbox are out by a set amount of hours which skews everything else. I too suffer from the 8 hour time difference.

Does everything that everyone else has added give you enough information for 3.0.2 or do you need more info?

Happy to provide if you do and thanks for all the hard work as the app is great. It has actually brought me back into using Facebook.

Here in Adelaide AUS (GMT +930) my Events are all out of whack by ~9.5 hours!

Also the messages are also displaying a wrong time, one message was recieved at 8:10AM however the time stamp on the message on the iphone APP is 12:37am.

Hi Joe,

Afraid patch 3.0.2 did not fix the problem all my events and inbox mail is out by 8 hours. I just posted an inbox mail and it time stamped it as 12:57am when in fact the time was 08:57am.

Hope you can get that sorted chap. I will start another thread as we are now onto 3.0.2 as well.

Hi, for me also it is the inbox (UK, GMT) - the preview shows times 15 hours before it was actually sent. Then in the actual thread inside the inbox the same message shows it stamped as 8 hours before it was sent. Thanks for a great app though :)

Hi Joe,

I have a similar problem: the events in the new app seem to be converted to PDT. I'm on the east coast and events are showing up at +3hrs later. Thx.

I am in Atlanta (EST -5) and the messages in my overall inbox view are off by a few hours and the time for the messages themselves are different from the main list as well.

Hey Joe,

I'm running the new update 3.0.2 but also seem to have the same problem with time zones. All Events (incl. Birthdays) and Inbox Messages seem to have the incorrect time stamp, which is kind of annoying especially now that I have a lot of birthday and events happening.

Time zone is Sydney, Australia (GMT+10:00). This makes all the events and messages times 16hrs late.

That's the only bug I have otherwise thank you for a fantastic app.

I'm having the same issue on the newest Facebook Application release on my iPhone.

My event in facebook (PC) is 7 pm (I am in Montreal GMT -05:00)
When I see all the events via the iPhone the times are all 3 hours later than they are supposed to be (ex: 10pm instead of 7pm). All of my friends with iPhone's in Montreal also see the event at 10pm instead of 7pm.

My computer's Time Zone and my iPhone are both set to the proper time zone.

I've had the same types of issues with facebook inbox messages reporting the wrong times too. They report times 3 hours ahead...

Hi Acim,

Could you help me out by telling me where your Facebook language setting is in the iPhone app?

Only I cannot see it and my language settings are English UK across the device and that makes no difference for me with regards to the problem.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Nope, changing the language setting on Facebook doesn't help the time zone issue. Guess I will just have to minus 16hrs from events, etc, until the next update hopefully. *fingers crossed*

In AUS Melb (GMT+10) and my events are out by 17 hrs. i.e. 5pm thurs is displayed at 10am friday. Inbox is the same.

I also have the same problem with exporting the events and importing them into google calendar, the timezone is not included in the feed. You can use http://ical.dudeami.com/ to offset the time which fixes the problem. This is a Facebook issue not a GCal issue, facebook just needs to include the timezone in the iCal feed and the problem would be solved.

I think its time for a fix Facebook!

Given all the global users of Facebook I am really very surprised that a timezone issue at the core of Facebook would not be addressed by now.

Which has a collateral effect on the app. I hope this can be fixed at least in the iPhone app as it makes a lot of the new great functionality for me unusable.

Event times always have 1 hour added to them. Example: Correct time might be 7:00pm but the mobile app shows the event starting at 8:00pm. I'm in Mountain Time Zone (Utah).
