    On March 6, 2009, it was reported that Francis Magalona succumbed to acute myelogenous leukemia at 12:00 noon that day, a few days after his fourth chemotherapy session and a few days before his supposed stem cell transplant. The announcement was first made on the variety show Eat Bulaga! of which Magalona had been a host, after which a short tribute to the artist was aired. A minute of prayer was also observed in remembrance of Mr. Magalona in the noontime TV show Wowowee with host Willie Revillame and close friend Badong Trueasiatik leading the prayer.

    pia, i know you will be reading this on behalf of your beloved, who has been by your side through the years..sharing with you the joys of rearing 8 children, through good and bad times. I can say Francis made a good husband and a good father. Showbiz world seldom gets to have such intact relationship especially on couples like you who married young. Anyway, witht he 8 children he left behind, I know the Lord Jesus will not leave you as widow and orphans, as He is the father of the orphans and the husband of the widow. The Lord be with you and your children. May they be wise as not to be influenced and be corrupted , stained by the evil around us. The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make His face to shine upon you and give you strength. The LOrd give and the Lord take.. blessed be the name of the LOrd. It isn't in how lengthy a life that counts, but how one live his life to the fullest, and how one is a good model for the world to see. Take good care, Pia.
