Hi, everyone! :) Which alumni associations are you a member of, if any? What do you like the most about them? If you could design the perfect alumni association, what would it do?

I'll be inducted into the New England Regional Alumni Association next month and am very excited!

Hello I'm Stephanie. I'm a proud alumni member of Phi Theta Kappa as of
2001. I attended Xi Zeta out of Jefferson Community College in Hillsboro Missouri. Our Alumni group is Theta. I wish the different alumni groups had more activities together!

If you're trying to find a local group, you can always check the website directory:

http://www.ptk.org/alumni/

Also keep in mind that many alumnae/i groups are at the regional level. In New England, all six states have the same alumni association, NERA. Shannon, the Carolinas Region association is here: http://www.carolinasregion.org/Alumni%20Home.htm

I'm the current president of the Michigna Region Alumni Association. For those of you who might not know... there are three types of alumni associations. Regional, community/chapter, and senior institution. This will help you in your search for an alumni association that is best for you.

I am a past secretary and member of Alpha of Ohio which is the alumni association for the Ohio Region. I am also an active alumni member in my chapter, Beta Gamma Epsilon of Stark State College in Canton, Ohio. We haven't formed a group within our chapter, but we do have a number of active alumni who attend meetings and events. We even have a "position" for alumni liaison on our chapter officer team. They relay info from the alumni assoc. to the chapters and visa versa!

I've been a member of Alpha of Ohio for more than 2 years - this group is useless. They cash my check but do not respond to emails nor does this group "do" anything. In all this time I have only ever received 1 email that was initiated by an officer of the organization. I have writtten and asked numerous times, but now the website notice advises that the dues for this group are going up. Hm-m.... Quite the value.

My experience with this little 'pack' at both regional meetings & the International Conference is that the members do nothing but gossip, finger- point and act like a bunch of 6th graders.

I am a member of three alumni associations. I am a member of Pi of Texas at TAMU-Commerce and the Texas Region Alumni. I am a distance learner so I am also a member of Alpha of Ohio. I was just elected Alpha of Ohio's president for the next two years. There is a lot of change happening with Alpha and we hope to get more alumni involved over the next few years. We are also in charge of fundraising for the Ohio Region; this happened a year ago.

Julia, Unfortunately there is not right now. There is always the possibility of chartering one.
