Can we try and re-focus on what we are providing please! We need to listen more to the client and try and understand what they are trying to achieve.

Some of the so called ‘answers’ to Japanese Knotweed removal are down right stupid…there I said it. Yes Mike Clough Managing Director of Japanese Knotweed Solutions says some of the ‘Solutions’ offered are STUPID…

What do I mean by this?

Well if you bought a site for say £100K and you want to build three houses on it that will sell for say £180K each (total £540K) and the Japanese Knotweed eradication costs £150K….IT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IS IT!

Let’s say you are a church warden with a seriously infested graveyard. You collect £7.80 on average from the collection at the end of the week and have been saving to fix the roof for the last ten years…if the Japanese Knotweed eradication costs £58K …IT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IS IT!

I’m not saying don’t follow the Code of Practice. I’m not saying cut corners… what I am saying is let’s be realistic.

Sit down with the house builder explain the options, discuss budgets…make it work. Can the knotweed be buried on site? Can the material be sifted, reduced, re-used?

Talk to the church warden explain the problem; make it work…he probably isn’t in a rush so why not treat at minimum cost over a period of years? Could working parties be briefed on what to do?

We are here to provide a service - that service should be based on providing the most cost efficient way of dealing with the invasive weed problem within current legislative guidelines - to enable the project to proceed on time, on budget.

That’s what we do. Try us.
