Trinity Episcopal Cathedral We're told that President Obama is scheduled to sign the Matthew Shepard/James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crime Prevention Act into law at 4:45 pm on Wednesday. Come celebrate with Bishop Gene Robinson! He preaches at 6 pm Choral Evensong on Wednesday and gives a free public lecture at 7:30 pm.

Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Third Half of Life hosts Gary Benjamin of UHCAN at Trinity tomorrow, 12:30 pm. He'll "Unscramble the Health Care Maze," with particular attention to Medicare. All are welcome!

CLEVELAND, OH, October 20, 2009—Bishop Gene Robinson, the Episcopal bishop of New Hampshire and a hero in the movement for full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, will speak at Trinity Cathedral, 2230 Eu...clid Avenue, on Wednesday, October 28 at 7:30 pm. His topic is “What Storm Is God Calling You Into.” The event is free and open to the public; no tickets are necessary.
Bishop Robinson will also preach at Choral Evensong at 6 pm that day. After Evensong, all are welcome for a community supper before the speech at 7:30 pm.
The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson is the Ninth Bishop of New Hampshire, a position to which he was elected by the people of that diocese in 2003. A graduate of the University of the South in Sewanee and General Theological Seminary, his first ordained position was as curate at Christ Church in Ridgewood, New Jersey--a position also held, several years later, by the Very Rev. Tracey Lind, Dean of Trinity Cathedral.
Bishop Robinson is a leader in clergy wellness, AIDS education, debt relief for impoverished nations and socially responsible investing. He serves as a member of the Church Pension Fund and the New Hampshire Children's Alliance.
Bishop Robinson told his story in the 2007 feature-length documentary For the Bible Tells Me So and in his 2008 book In the Eye of the Storm: Swept to the Center by God. He has received two honorary doctorates and numerous civil rights awards. In January 2009, at the invitation of Barack Obama, he gave the invocation at the opening inaugural ceremonies held at the Lincoln Memorial.

Venus — my sealpoint Siamese — really enjoyed the blessing of the animals this afternoon. The loud canine chorus on the hymns didn't faze her at all. (They may have been a tad off-key but the lustiness of ther singing was impressive!) Rosemary Funnell and Stephanie and Matthew Blanchard also brought their cats so she w...asn't alone in that sea of dogs. She especially enjoyed hanging with her new friend Toby Radloff — obviously a true cat lover and a gentleman. I loved seeing so many beautiful pets; this service reminds us how blessed we are to share our lives with these affectionate spirits.Read More
