Delightful Thanksgiving on Tybee Island. Sun came out, but electricity failed. A vehicle hit a pole, knocking out power for hours Thanksgiving morning. Ocean Plaza staff met the challenge, serving up hot breakfast, then afternoon Thanksgiving buffet feast. Perfect day for walking on the beach and watching the fishing from Tybee pier.

This is great..it harkens back to the fervor and excitement that Burt Reynolds brought to the Coastal Empire in 1976 when they filmed the classic movie GATOR on the South End..who doesnt remember the phone booth exploding outside of the Veranda Motel?...Hollywood..plz come back soon!!!! ...We love having Tybee swamped all summer with nosy onlookers!!!(especially those folks on the Back River!)

Tybee Island, Georgia The Tybee Beautification Association will hold Adopt-A-Highway this Saturday, November 14th at 9 am. Meet at the Tybee Sign at the Lazaretto Creek Bridge. Please come help pick up the litter along Hwy 80 and in the marsh and help keep Tybee beautiful! Please help spread the word.

If I had the time, I'd be there. There are so many people that go down that beautiful highway and throw their junk out, somebody's got to do it. Then it gets in the marsh, etc., and is really bad.

I've been to several beaches that allow dogs( I always clean up after mine by the way) and they are very clean. Why is it such a problem on Tybee? Just an area of the beach could be made open to dogs and everyone else could have the rest of the beach. Is that to much to ask?

I crave the peace that Tybee Island brings since my husband died in November 2005. I spend alot of time sitting in my favorite swing reading or writing in my journal, taking photographs on my long slow walks, watching the dolphins play, shelling with my son, and watching every sunrise while I'm there.

I saw a wonderful thing in the City of Doraville yesterday - one street lined with crosses for about a mile. Each cross had a servicemember's name and the war that member particpated in. Each cross had an American flag affixed to the top. I noticed that some of the flags had been stolen :( What can you expect in "that" part of metro-Atlanta. However, what a beautiful thing the City of Doraville did - hard economic times or not.
