Hello Viorica,

Consumer sentiment is based on consumers' spending and saving habits which reflects the level of optimism in the economy. This is why you see the big dip in the consumer sentiment index throughout the GFC and an increase in late 2009.

These charts need to studied in correlation in order to speculate the future macroeconomic trends which influences the prices in the global financial markets. They're not only for economics study but more importantly global macro trading. For example, when you see unemployment rates are rising worldwide in late 2008 along with household savings you... See More might ... See Morereach conclusion that the equity markets are in shortage of money supply. So you might want to bet a trade on your conclusion by going short the US and AU stock indices.

Of course this kind of trades which take trememdous amount time to research are never easy and therefore highly risky :) But the rewards are handsome as well :)

See Moreis not an issue if service is right and customers recognise that there's more to banking than rate, so we've invested a bit in service level and quality. I hope this helps. Gerd

Welcome to the start of another working week. I'm sure you're all excited about it ;o)
If you're after some lunch time reading, why not check out our latest blog by Andrew Pegler? (the first in a two part post): "As we launch into another trip around the sun I thought it appropriate to explore both the do...om or zoom scenario for 2010. This blog will present the reasons why we won't have another recession in 2010 and next week I argue why we will. Meanwhile I'm off to see a movie with my split personality."

with the amount of debt out there, especially our insane house prices I reckon we'll double dip. When the global economy is 60 trillion but global derivative markets 700 trillion I think we have a problem. More than just a dip coming.
