Students in Professor Maya Stanfield-Mazzi’s Mesoamerican Art class recently worked on several objects selected from the Harn Museum of Art’s permanent collection of Pre-Columbian art. After doing preliminary readings and carefully observing the objects, groups of students presented their findings to the rest of the cl...ass. The objects included a tiny Olmec-style head from central Mexico, ceramic effigies from West Mexico and Veracruz, two Maya polychrome vessels, and an Aztec stone sculpture of a rattlesnake. The class thanks curator Susan Cooksey and the Harn Museum staff for making the event possible.Read More
