What is Underground Disco Movement?
It is "House" ...but it's not about the house music you hear on Mtv's the Party Zone today. Underground Disco Movement is about the pioneering Underground Disco music that was produced during the 70's and until the beginning of the 80's. It's a tribute to Nicky Siano, Larry Levan, Tom Moulton, Shep Pettibone, David Mancuso, The Salsoul Orchestra, Patrick Adams, Rinder & Lewis, Barry Lederer, Daniele Baldelli, The Loft, The Gallery, The Paradise Garage etc. It's a potted journey through club music, with particular focus on the slow mutation of Disco and Soul into the hugely influential and endlessly productive sound eventually just known as 'House'. Defined by the prominent kick drum which would eventually come to typify every strand of four-to-the-floor music to this day.
U.D.M. is also a THE spot for the futuristic and spacey sounds of Italo Disco. The broad term Italo Disco is encompassing much of the disco music output in Europe during the 1980s. and is one of the first forms of completely electronic dance music that evolved during the late 1970s / early 1980s in Italy, France, Spain, Sweden, Germany, and other parts of Europe.
