The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a lobbying and legal organization with thousands of large and small business members across the nation, is taking an aggressive, anti-science stance on the pressing issue of global warming.
Recently, a number of large companies, such as Apple, Microsoft, and energy companies Exelon and PG&E, have publicly distanced themselves from the Chamber’s regressive actions on climate change. The Ford Motor Company should be the next to make a break from the Chamber. Ford has stated its support for the breakthrough national clean car standards. But Ford’s clean car commitments are undermined by their continued participation in the Chamber—the very group now suing to stop the Environmental Protection Agency from moving forward on efforts toward cleaner cars and other global warming solutions.
Please tell William Ford Jr., chairman of the Ford Motor Company, that it is time for Ford to make a public break with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and its stance of denying the science and need for action on climate change.

Earlier this year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) took a big step toward reducing global warming pollution when it officially declared that heat-trapping emissions are pollutants that endanger public health. This move would allow the agency to regulate global warming pollution from power plants and automobiles under the Clean Air Act. But now the Senate is poised to undo this critical progress.
This week, the Senate is expected to vote on a bill that includes amendments that would eliminate or erode the EPA’s ability to fight global warming and move America toward a clean energy future. Please urge your senators to safeguard our climate and deliver a cleaner approach to the nation's energy system by protecting the EPA’s authority to address the urgent threat of global warming.

Unless we speak out, the Senate is planning to funnel billions of dollars to the nuclear power industry through a so-called “clean energy bank.” This plan would in effect write a blank check—using taxpayers’ money—to provide unlimited loans for nuclear reactors at the expense of investments in clean, affordable renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. Setting aside the safety and security risks associated with nuclear power, taxpayers should not be on the hook for hundreds of billions in loans to an industry with such a poor financial track record. Tell your senators taxpayer dollars should be spent on truly clean, affordable energy projects.
