Urban Clarity Pick a resolution you can adopt for 2010. Make it both manageable - in the sense that it’s only one - and challenging - in the sense that it’ll make a difference to you (and likely also those who love you.) What’s yours? (I’d love to know!)

Urban Clarity wishes all our fans a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! May it be filled with joy, happiness, health and prosperity.

Urban Clarity Before the holidays are over and you "undecorate", take a moment to reflect on what worked well, and what you might change for next year. Jot yourself some notes, and snap a picture of your decor so you can easily replicate it next year. Store a hard copy of your notes and photo with your decorations and you'll be set for next December!

Urban Clarity Now is a great time to update your snail mail addresses! Take the return addresses on the holiday cards you've been receiving and make sure they're all in your system.

Urban Clarity Think the abundance your kids received over the holidays might be underappreciated? Stash a few toys, games, or art supplies away for a rainy day. They won't miss them now, and they'll appreciate them later!

Urban Clarity If you received gifts you'd like to return or exchange, put them all in one spot (ideally near your door). Make a plan to take them back before the window is gone!

This blog’s “professional organizer” Amanda Wiss, whose help we can always use, has generously answered my request for ways to reduce holiday stress. I am up to my neck in stress and desperately needed some advice. ...

Urban Clarity As that prolific writer anonymous wrote: “Ideas are worthless unless followed by action.” Carving out a plan is only the beginning. Take concrete steps to execute your plan.

Urban Clarity Are you the main holiday cook? Have your family members help with preparing the food. Even if it’s just a matter of having someone skin the chicken or dice the onions for you, the little extra help will make your job less stressful!

Urban Clarity Afraid your children’s new toys are just going to cause more clutter? Sit down with them, go through the older toys, and donate whatever they don’t use anymore. This is a great time to teach them that the holidays aren’t just about receiving but giving as well.

Urban Clarity The holidays aren’t all about presents! Take the time to bake yummy holiday cookies or make special decorations with your family. Projects like that can put everyone in the holiday spirit.
