In light of the events that gripped our city (Orlando) yesterday, we are still pressing forward with our largest Pink Slip Party ever hosted by Jux.ta.pose and the Orlando Magic at the Amway Arena on Nov. 16th. Now, more than ever people are crying out for help and need jobs. I've partnered with several great compani...es that are hiring in the Central Florida/Tampa area. If you are out of work or know someone that is, I encourage you to repost this or pass this along to them. It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a nation to support our unemployed. For some job seekers like Stephanie Jenkins, a job with security is worth much more than a hefty paycheck.

I just took a job at $2 an hour less that the job I got laid off from. I was willing to train for a high demand job under MI's No Worker Left Behind program. I will be a certifiied nurses aide and from there, I can always go back and get the LPN and RN degree. Sometimes you have to take a couple steps back to move forward. While there is nothing totally secure anymore, some fields such as healthcare offer pretty good job security as long as you work hard and have the right attitude.

I, too, am doing what I have to do to re-invent myself. Hope the new invention will work :-)

Pam Giordano

Pam Giordano After a year of trying to find employment, I am finally working part time as a substitute teacher. Due to the bad economy, substitute positions are highly competitive; I was lucky to get one. I'm glad to have the work but hope the economy will improve enough for me to find full time employment.

Laid off this year..again. If I hear anything back it is always that I'm "over qualified". And how do states think we can live on $225/week unemployment? I couldn't pay my mortgage, house is gone now...four months with no job in site.

I am so tired at being at the mercy of others when it comes to the well being of my family that I am back to school to learn a new trade and one I hope is layoff proof.

For the past two years, I have been working an Internship with The Second City Theater of Chicago. I assist teachers, directors, students and Training Center managers with assisting classes and signing new and current students up for classes. I am a writer and an actor in the theater as well. I have abundant restaurant... and office experience working under an accountant in St. Louis for three years before my schooling in Chicago.

If I don't get a job within the next two weeks, I will have to leave Chicago and return home to St. Louis. I am in serious need of work. None of the present jobs I have pay me. It is class-work-trade agreements with my theater and martial arts academy I work for as an Intro. Instructor and building Maintenance Man. I am a die hard perfectionist and I know how to provide exemplary customer service in all lines of work. If you have a job and the desire to hear more from me, I promise I won't let you down...

Sincerely,
Thomas
