too bad freecaster doesn't buffer better. I only get 5 sec video and then it pauses for 10 sec. I watched all of the UCI world cup smoothly now it changed and is worthless.

There has been much debate lately about the dangers of the road. We recently came across these figures from the NY trasportation authority that say the number of cycling casualities on the road has remained steady or event decreased despite a rapid rise in the number of cyclists. A sort of pack mentality - the more cyc...lists there are on the roads, the more drivers are aware of them. Hummm.....

These trends have been shown in Europe, Australia and other US cities as well. More people on bikes, more trips by bike, fewer fatalities.

I have to say: I'm quite disappointed by the new ban on aero equipment in collegiate cycling. I think this is going to take a lot out of the experience for very little gain in fairness. $25 clip-ons are available at anyone's budget. Those of us with aero equipment (including those of us who JUST BOUGHT aero equipment) ...area really going to lose out. Judging from the response within the WCCC, I don't feel like my opinion is in the minority either :(Read More

Aside from this, it really is a slippery slope we're walking on now. If cost is the motivator, then i'm sure we'll get rid of carbon race wheels next and $8000 bikes to further level the playing field. I don't think i need to explain why this would really hurt the sport. At the end of the day, I don't think anyone would argue that, while these ... Read Morethings help, most of what determines a race are the skills and fitnesses of the riders. Similarly, riders that don't want to bring an extra bike to nationals could attach clip-on aerobars to their road bike (something i've done for years before buying my TT bike this summer). They'd get 95% of the benefit right there. The remaining 5% is small enough that it's not worth talking about (at that point, you should worry about if you've been feeding enough, if the wind hasn't changed, if you're spending too much time on the front, etc). By doing this, we'll be losing a lot of the fun for a very small increase in fairness.

As I'm reading it now, the hilarity of the situation is that I'm pretty sure I could use my TT frame if i replaced the aerobars with drop bars and used mass-start legal wheels - so the overall difference between me and someone else would be the $100 helmet and the $25 clip on aerobars (ebay prices). To regulate $125 worth of equipment because it's ... Read Moretoo expensive is pretty silly!

So I guess the real question is why outlaw aero helmets and clip-on aerobars? This certainly wouldn't be an issue of cost...
