Seek to retain federal policy on abortion funding and conscience protection Want to protect access to health care that immigrants have now, remove barriers to access Need strong provisions for adequate affordability and coverage standards

This effort is undoutedly lost.. Voting for a pro-abortion politician leads to more abortion. Just common sense really. The blanket or carpet of life thinking behind voting creates abortion as an orphan issue during every election in my opinion. It is what is..

We *must*, of course, defeat any health care bill that would make us pay for more abortions. But we should not limit ourselves to defeating the Reid and Pelosi bills if the Stupak-Pitts Amendment is removed. Instead, we should form a coalition with the single-payer national health insurance movement to enact a *pro-life* single-payer system. Think about how many unborn children could be saved from abortion by universal prenatal and obstetrical care under a pro-life single-payer system.

Please don't say that a single-payer system would fall under the Church's condemnation of atheistic socialism, or that it would be a violation of the Catholic principle of subsidiarity. In section 52 of his 1937 anti-communist encyclical *Divini Redemptoris*, Pope Pius Xi advocated "public or private insurance for old age, for periods of illness and unemployment." In addition, please see section 2211 of the *Catechism of the Catholic Church*. Neither the Popes nor the Canadian bishops have ever condemned the single-payer system in Canada, which is 43 percent Catholic.

Please see the pro-life posts on the two *Facebook* pages of Physicians for a National Health Program.... See More

Keep and spread the Faith.

No, no. Just marveling at the irony of your question. I assume you've been paying taxes all this time for things and practices that the USCCB has openly opposed yet all of a sudden the abortion issue is the "straw that broke the camel's back" for you. Just comical I guess.

It is US (as in you and me and who can) who should be helping others as in the Good Samaritan story, NOT the government. Nothing is a right and according to our senators, even life is not a right as they want abortion on demand and for all to pay for it!

You are right...we are supposed to be helping others. It is the Christian way. Unfortunately, people in power usually end up paying homage to their God, money. In every other industrialized nation in the world, access to healthcare IS a right. It is only in this country that some people deem it a privilege.
