University Police at the University of South Carolina Upstate will
conduct an active shooter training session on campus on Monday, October
19 at 1:00 p.m. The purpose of this session is to promote ongoing
safety and security measures in the interest of students and the ca...mpus
community. The training session will appear to be a real active shooter
situation, but is actually a carefully staged scenario that will
provide university employees with the training required to properly
manage a similar situation, if needed.
The mock scenario will take
place in the P. Kathryn Hicks Visual Arts Building, which requires
portions of Gramling Drive and the Smith Farmhouse parking lot to be
closed. Additionally, the Support Services parking lot will be fully
utilized by participant parking for all the emergency vehicles.
