This artical describes the hospitals in Australia now. If you go in as a public patient you are treated like a number and placed in an 8 bed ward. You might or might not see a Dr each day and you will see nurses that don't know your name or even care to read it as they are so over worked. It is quite different in a private hospital as a private ... See Morepatient. I think that people are going to be very surprised at how it all works out and they are not going to like it. Having been in hospital under both systems believe me I will continue to pay my health insurence which by the way is going up constantly so that I don't have to go into the public system. Over here they government was actually give a tax break to get people to sign up for health insurence, which thye do get the break then drop it and go back on public. Three years for knee surgery, nine months for gall baldder surgery and you are cattle while you are in the process. Just wait.
