Alumnus Robert Merry will read from his new book, A Country of Vast Designs: James K. Polk, the Mexican War, and the Conquest of the American Continent on Monday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at the U District University Bookstore. He will also autograph copies of his book.
The book explores how President James Polk acquired so much land (including what would later be Washington state) for the United States.
