      • Mike Waddington Well done Jack. Never a doubt in my mind you would win LRS and now lets home for some better NZ weather so you can show the World your paddling strength in NZ this time.

      • Barb Campbell Wow! Not much slower than last year even though conditions were much muckier on the bike course. Great job!

      • Van Dorp Racing hard to say whether the run / paddle were easier or more difficult, run might have been tougher but it seemed the paddle was a bit shorter.

My Forerunner measured the run as 400 m longer than last year - but it was a little tougher too, I think. The paddle measured 2.2 km shorter but I thought the portages were trickier to negotiate so the new course would affect different race...rs differently. (I didn't carry the boat last year so my opinion might be skewed.) Also the gusty wind made the paddle more challenging, and I think it got worse as the morning went on, leaving the least experienced paddlers in the worst conditions.

My run was 11 min. faster this year and my paddle was 10 min. slower even though I'm sure that will turn out to be my best-ranked discipline. So no change up till TA2 but then my bike ride was 17 min. slower than last year in all that mud - yikes!
