I think this is a great idea. I am from North Carolina and they have lots of Cafe's that offer a variety of tings to do. I network extensivly throughout the boston area and it would be great to have a place to go near my office to network and relax. Please let know when you get together next.

It is an invitational group based on demonstrated interest. The next gathering will be at a Kendall Sq. restaurant on W Nov 4 in the evening. Imran Venture Cafe should extend open arms to the many local ethnic based entrepreneurial societies, like OPEN New England, TiE, INLET, and many others. So many people from foreign countries pass through schools here, and stay here to start up new companies; they are source and resource for new entrepreneurs.

We've been working through restaurant vs. cafe vs. bar, central vs. peripheral location, high-end food vs. distinctive but inexpensive food, large vs. small footprint, inclusion or exclusion of coworking-type collaboration elements, etc. We've settl...ed on an A-location, distinctive but not expensive food, cafe possibly with alcohol in evening.

WSJ has an article about Cafés turning off their wireless. While I respect that for some Cafés this is a necessary business decision, reliable internet access is a cornerstone for productivity in the innovation community - a fact we will not forget!
