New HST Exemptions
Ontario has decided to keep the tax exemption on meals under 4 dollars when the sales tax harmonization begins next July 1st. This- added to the other tax breaks our government is giving to 93 per cent of Ontarians will make life easier for families. Newspapers will be exempted too because they are important for our democracy. Today's announcement comes on the heels of last week's study by respected economist Jack Mintz that showed the new HST will created an estimated 591-thousand jobs in the next ten years. It is the right thing to do to create a strong Ontario of the future.

Ontario's Second Career program is helping laid-off workers develop the skills they need to find new jobs. The Premier went to Guelph to meet several people who are training as welders. Second Career has been an amazing success helping more than 21-thousand train for high-demand jobs. The government is investing an additional $78 million to keep up with demand.
